These racially motivated police brutality issues are known to happen all across the country in places like Michigan to places like Idaho. On July 27, 1919, an African-American teenager drowned in Lake Michigan after being stoned by a group of white teenagers. The combination of his death and the police’s refusal to arrest a white man who saw this event occur and did nothing is what caused The Chicago Race Riot. When the riots ended on August 3rd, 15 whites and 23 blacks were killed and an additional 500+ people were injured. Many upper class white families were left homeless after their homes were torched in the riots. These deaths, injuries and loss of property were a result of a racial attack on youth and the lack of concern from local police. This may not have been a direct murder from police, but it is an example of how the lack of proper policing did cause terror in Chicago nearly 100 years ago. …show more content…

This facility is known as one of the most violent private facilities in the United States, thus earning it the infamous nickname “Idaho’s Gladiator School.” One of the prisoners, Randall McCullough had spent more than a year in solitary confinement until he committed suicide. Back in 2006, prisoners were moved from Newton County Correctional Center after the state was given reports of several inmates being forcibly maced, thrown into walls, and cuffed.There was another facility, Dickens County Correctional Center that was actually closed down back in 2007 after the investigation of the suicide of Scott Noble Payne.
