Research paper – Child abuse

Child abuse is a universal problem that was started in cultural, and social practices. However, in India, there is no basic understanding about the damage done. As time passes by there are new ways that children get abused and many of us are ignorant or do not know much about it. Child abuse has severe physical and mental impact, which has a long-term affect on health and mental well being of a child. In this research paper I am going to analyze different forms of child abuse and the statistics of child abuse in India and how missions should deal towards it. These unreported or untreated child sexual abuse not only strips away the childhood from the children and destroys families; it also leaves offenders free to abuse and scar the future generations.

Neglect
Neglect is usually known as depriving a child of adequate food, clothing, shelter, supervision, medical care and education. Neglect also does harm to children but it is not as active as the other forms of abuse as mentioned above. Lack of love, care and attention will lead to having a consistent bad hygiene, dirty appearing, knotted and unwashed hair, or noticeable body odor which are the signs of an unattended child.
While people usually think of child abuse has to do with sexual or physical assault, we should also understand that most of the child abuse cases involve neglects and it is a form of emotional abuse. It is easy to see a physically abused child because of his bruises or other injuries, but we should look for signs of a neglected child too because nobody reports negligence as an abuse in India.
Some of the statistics of neglects in India are: -
1. One out of every two child is being neglected.

In Mark 10:14 Jesus said that these children belong to the kingdom of God and he welcomed them to his side. We need to understand the very nature of God to be like him towards others.

God and Children
Child abuse is a very devastating thing, which exists in our society; this can only be controlled if each one us learn to look at children through our Fathers eyes. In the Bible we read that God created each one of us in his own image (Gen 1:27), which carries incredible value towards humans. God not only created us but also loves us unconditionally and we need to channel that love towards our neighbors and children.
Jesus was very sensitive towards children and spoke harsh words to anyone who misguided little children “But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” The Bible talks about how parents should treat their children with love and care (Ephesians 6:4, Colossians 3:21).
