Intro - What is a milestone?
Milestones are the significant changes in one’s life. Of course with babies it becomes all the more special. Usually your babies growth and development can be divided into motor skills, language and emotional development. As you notice your baby growing, you can enjoy each of these milestones like the sweet smile, the rolling over or the holding of your hand, grabbing the toys with its little fingers. There might be slight difference in each baby in achieving these milestones. There is no need to fret, never compare your baby with others. Too much research and questioning the doc will only stress you out. Give your baby the time and enjoy the feeling

Do not forget to give this as you bath him, change his diaper or feed him.
As your baby grows, leave him around on the mat and let him explore the world and enjoy smiling at it.
Talk to him from a different room and see how he responds to your sound and is eager and happy when he finds you. He will crawl and try to come and reach you.
As he crawls around the house, keep his toys away so he tries to reach them.He will look around, lift his head, use his hands to reach out the toy. Always remember to take away unwanted things that might hurt him.
Bring a toy which has wheels which moves as you key it. Your child will follow the toy around and have a great time too.
You can practice tummy time to encourage motor development. It will help in strengthening the muscles of their neck, shoulders, arms. Do it daily during the time when your child is in its best mood.

Physical Development Many babies from age zero to two will: will increase their body dynamics height, weight, etc. between birth and age 2. They will begin growing teeth and acquire the ability to eat solid foods. They will develop 75 percent of their brain capacity learn to crawl and walk, in addition they will develop motor skills that include varied movements, running, jumping, climbing, etc. The most significant change in my opinion will be
They would also develop primitive reflexes and have control of their head. When an infant hits 4-6 months they would physically be able to sit unsupported, roll over and develop their fine motor skills such as moving things from one hand to another. Also at this age, they should weigh between 14.8-17.5lb and be 26.1-27.2 inches tall. Physically, infants start to stand alone at the age of 9 months and eventually develop the fine motor skill of having ‘pincer’ movements between their thumbs and fingers. This would allow infants to explore and discover for themselves by being in contact with the things around them.
Stage 1: The Sensori Motor Stage Birth to about 2years. In this stage the babies aren’t sure what happens to objects when they move from sight. This explains why babies are so surprised when they play peek-a-boo with an adult. During their first year they learn the concept of object permanence. In the video Baby Simon makes a classic mistake of looking for the toy plane where he last found it and not where he watched them hide it.
The first part of the study involved observing child K’s motor and fine motor skills in her home. First, I would observe her motor skills. To get her more excited, I decided to play with her and her sister. At 4 years of age, child K should be enjoying the movements of hopping, jumping, and running while be more adventurous than they were at 3 years of age (Santrock, pg. 158, 2012). Obviously, at age 4, she has already learned how to walk and run on her own.
I was a good baby except for the crying and the fact that I did not want to sleep in my own bed. Around the age of four months I started scooting on my butt; I never crawled just scooted until I could walk. I started walking when I was ten months old. When I was a year old, I also had to have my urethra stretched, due to urine black flow.
Sleep is crucial for the overall development of babies. It is a known fact that babies grow maximum in their sleep. Here is what to expect of a baby’s sleep and nap timeline from birth to the age of 12 months. Newborn - 3 Months
Babies will be strong enough to stand unaided for a few minutes and gradually take their first steps. They will start to throw things and confidently be able to hold cups and spoons as the pincer grip continues to
, sucking the bottle or grasping things in their hands. By the time when they are 1 year old, the babies will be relatively mobile, crawling and can roll over by themselves. They are progressing through their second year , their limbs grow quickly and they can learn to walk because of their centre of gravity change. They are able to control the movements their limbs make, they begin to use their hands to draw attention, pointing and hold things. The third year, they can control
Toddler Learning and Development Introduction Unlike adolescents and adults, growth and development is different in infants and toddlers. Observations from the physical, cognitive and perceptual development show that toddlers and infants grow and develop at a faster rate than adults. The physical, cognitive and motor development in infants and toddlers is higher than the same development in adults. This paper is an analysis and interpretation of an observation conducted with an aim to understand the growth and development of toddlers and infants. It explains an observation of an infant boy named Taylor who is 8 months old.
Between 6 to 12 months start gain leg control, crawls, stand and walk. According to proximodistal principal, development also proceeds from the center of the body outward. First the spinal cord develops and rest of the parts next. Arms develop before the hands, and the hands and feet develop before the fingers and toes. Fingers and toes are the last to develop.
The first year of a child’s life is spent communicating entirely through nonverbal means. Infants use every part of their bodies to convey their wants and needs as their parents and early childhood educators respond to meet them. Examples of this are reflexes, such as opening their mouths when hungry. Also, crying and whole body movements to demonstrate feelings. Another way that is interesting in infant nonverbal communication is allowing infants to play with each other.
These milestones are to be used just as guidelines: Newborn to 1 month: Sucking, Swallowing, Coughing, Gagging, Grasping, Blinking, Startling reflexes are developed. Makes jerky, quivering arm movements. Keep hands in tight fists. Focus on objects 8-12 inches away. Recognizes some sounds.
Your baby’s first year is full of memorable and delightful surprises. Try not to worry about whether he is smiling, crawling, or walking “on time”, and offer him a gentle word of encouragement like "you did it, good job or I am so proud of you" when your little one does something new every time. Also, you are the best judge as to whether your child is normal or not, talk to your doctor if you have concerns.
The arrival of a new baby, especially the first always marks a new beginning for a mother. It comes with a lot of challenges more so if the mother is less knowledgeable about baby care. Take such as cleaning the baby for the first time, or feeding, it is not easy. The baby is still fragile and slippery and needs a special care. But if the mother is not ready for all these, or maybe, does not have any knowledge on what to do, the baby’s life might be endangered since the baby needs a special care which only the mother can give.
7. Don’t Worry If Your Child Isn’t Reaching Development Milestones My daughter didn’t start walking until she was thirteen months old—about the time all the baby books said I would need to consult a doctor if she wasn’t walking by then. So of course I stressed about it. She was also in pull-up diapers longer than other kids in her daycare (a stranger even once remarked to me in a public bathroom that she was too old for diapers.
