Child labour , what’s it.? Have you ever heard this name before.? What is the meaning of the word, CHILD LABOUR.?
It means to make the children work or making them employed before age of fourteen years that deprived their innocence and the children of their childhood. It also had a great impact on children and leads to exploitation in various forms such as mental, physical, sexual and many more. They have to abandon their studies and work in the hazardous environment. They have to abandon all their joys and fun of childhood by this cruel world. Though many laws have been made that lead to the ban on CHILD LABOUR but still children have to work and being exploited on the large scale as the cheap labour. They are forced to work at the young age due to many factors such as poverty, unemployment , large family size , increasing gap between rich and poor , lack of social security, and many more. The other factors which also contribute to the child labour are loss of job of parents, suicide by the farmer and the heavy cost prices of health care. NGOs are mainly working with businesses to phase out child labour. NGO’s like Save the children are engaged in reducing the child labour by helping them with tried and tested models from developed economies. Save the Children is fighting an end to child labour by dialogue reform and implementation. It also create the awareness through reports, news ,media and other initiatives . High profile campaigns such as high publicity campaigns also forge an opinion which also includes government officials and celebrities.
