Heaven loves Beyonce and that is who she dances to most of the time. Both her and her mom want her to be a prodigy of Beyonce. Both of their parents want them to become a prodigy of somebody. Jing-Mei’s mom wants her to be a prodigy of Shirley Temple. One other allusion in “Two Kinds” and modern day society is Peter Pan.
“Two Kinds” a short story out of Amy Tan’s book “The Joy Luck Club” is a representation of the pressures immigrant children face from their parents. In the story, we follow a young girl named Jing-Mei as she embarks down the road to becoming a Prodigy. Her mother believed that “you could be anything you wanted to be in America” (Tan). For Jing-Mei that meant her mother believed she could become instantly famous. “Of course, you can be a prodigy, too”, her mother told her (Tan).
Tea Cake’s playfulness, adventure, happiness, protection, respect and his artistic aspect brought back the vision of the peer tree and constituted a time-based definition of what natural marriage means. It seemed perfect to Janie. Tea Cake treated Janie as a grown up woman with a young soul and a perfect beauty while acknowledging her freedom to choose. Freedom to stay or to leave by constantly reminding her that she has the keys to the kingdom (Hurston, 121). Tea Cake was the source of happiness for Janie and the closest image to the peer tree, she learned to give, serve and be served with him.

I grew up in an atmosphere of love and self-respect. The most important lesson I learned from my parents is to appreciate myself and be proud of my roots. Therefore, the film “A Girl Like Me” by Kiri Davis made such a big impression on me. The words of one of the girls in film sound so discouraging, “At a young age I already knew the standards for a girl like me. There are standards that are imposed upon us; you’re prettier if you’re light-skinned” (2005).
Mary Grace had a lot to be happy about at the moment. She had good marks in school, a best friend, Anne Pinewood, who she did everything with, and her whole family was safe and healthy at the moment. Her brother, Tommy, although he was spoiled, was still a nice playful boy. Her mother, though she rarely smiled, was

Her appearance was meant to be brief; but her delights brought her character to life. When Betty was first created by Max Fleischer, she was a plump French poodle with sagging ears. In 1932, Betty’s floppy ears were now hoop earring and she had a woman’s figure.

It was great to be at every game with my sister but the main thing I learned was the more I opened up the more fun I would have by being a shy kid to be dancing in front of hundreds of people was a ‘’little bit nerve racking but I got over it. My sister has inspired me to be myself and be outgoing and it 's good to try new

From the very beginning of each novel the excessive love for the children of Bly is made evident. Describing the children as celestial, perfect human beings is a constant theme discussed. This admiration for the children leads to the one similarity between the characters, the love found for the children. In The Turn of the Screw the new governess immediately describes Flora, the youngest child, as “the most beautiful child I had ever seen, and I afterwards wondered that my employer had not told me more of her”. (James 13) Being separated only by a couple years of age seemed to not prevent the governess from becoming an overly protective motherly figure to both the children.
