Children's Crusade Causes

The becoming of the children’s crusade was due to the actions of a couple young visionaries, which held the names of Nicholas and Stephen, both claimed to have been touched by God and received word to further the battle to take over Jerusalem for the Christians. Even though the children were only 12 years of age, they took on the task of speaking the word given to them while gathering many people to listen from all over the world. The help gained by the two young boys were mainly the less fortunate but that was no reason for the children to give up hope in spreading the word given to them.
With the leadership of Godfrey and various other French lords, the first crusade had begun. Through battling the Turkic on the journey from Constantinople to Antioch and having continuous arguments over the rule of other countries, the destination wanting to be reached by Godfrey and the lords was not completed until 1098 when the destination of Jerusalem was reached. Because of the time wasted by arguing and battling, by the time that Godfrey and the lords got there, Jerusalem was under the rule of Arabs.

A whole century before this, Pilgrims had been making treacherous journeys in order to get to the holy land which they had so desperately been wanting to reach. It wasn’t until early Islamic empires when pilgrims were allowed to make these types of journeys.
The third crusade was also given the name “the king’s crusade” because of its having to do with thee attempt of European leaders to again reconquer the holy land. This crusade was very successful in its doing even though it failed in capturing
