Dao means road or way. Laozi and Zhuangzi thought that Dao to be universal, holistic and cannot be known through analytical methods (seeing, touching, hearing etc.)
Chinese Literature
During this classes professor Fu characterized Chinese literature. It is the longest continuous literary tradition the world, influence on East Asian literature, for example, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. Professor Fu briefly told us about different Chinese poems, for example, “Blue Blue Your Collar” and “The Yue Folk’s Song”. The interesting thing about Chinese literature is that there are a lot of dialects, but the same written language. Chinese also invented civil service examination where candidates had to write poems and essays.

The earliest feudal official press dated the Tang Dynasty in Chang’an (now Xian) and was known as “Kaiyuan Newspaper”. China’s the oldest news agency is “Xinhua News Agency” (former “Red China News Agency”) was established in 1931 in Jiangxi province. “Renmi ribao” or “People’s Daily is the main newspaper presenting the opinion of CCP, was established in 1948 in Hebei

Mao Zedong, one of the most influential leaders in Chinese history, once said that, “Of all the things in the world, people are the most precious.” One of the biggest problems that he faced was the growing population of China. At first, he discouraged birth control, but when the growth rate was growing astronomically, Mao introduced “Late, Long and Few.” When even this was not slowing down the population growth, China implemented a one-child policy. It allowed for the Chinese population to have one child, and was far more harmful than beneficial to China.
Daoist thought is holistic and universal, based on the observation of relationships among all phenomena (Jung, 1997). The Dao is a concept that is difficult to explain. It is described as that which is within everything, as a certain philosophy of living, and as a “Way” or path to enlightenment. Watts (1993) describes it as “a vast Oneness that precedes and in some mysterious manner generates the endlessly diverse forms of the world” (p.xxvii). The Dao is often explained in metaphorical terms, and through the use of other poetic literary devices such as rhyming and repetition.
What China was trying to achieve with the One Child Policy was fix a problem they had caused in the first place, when, Mao Zedong, encouraged having more children to have more future workers, and discouraged the use of birth controls (Intro). The One Child Policy came into place in 1980, effected the ethnicity of Han Chinese and was definitely not one of China’s best ideas. It caused many hardships for the citizens of China. The policy was unnecessary for many of three reasons: the fertility rate was already dropping, there is a huge gender and age imbalance, as well as it is to blame for some of the youth’s social issues. From 1970 to 1979 there was a big reduction in fertility rates in China from 5.8 to 2.7, which was prior to the One
These three passages selected from the Daodejing are good representative of the three core ideas of Daoism—the Dao, wuwei, and yin and yang. The first passage (1.) writes about the Dao, also known as the Way. The Dao is the source of everything in the universe, the power or force that sustains the natural order of
The one-child policy helps children in China have a much better life. China’s population was the largest in the world and a very poor country at the same time. Still, the chairman called for people to have even more children. His advisors were against this decision. Finally, in 1980, the one-child policy was placed upon China (BE).
- China – anti-natalist – free birth control and family planning is offered, must required marriage certificate, fine on more children. - These policies really restricted the parents because if they don’t have the money to pay the fine, their children cannot go to school and they will also in a financial risk. Also, they won’t get any benefit from the government
Different periods throughout China’s history have different names, known as dynasties, for the diverse positions within its society. Theoretically, all of the periods are similar, with the government and military officials ranking high in the hierarchy, and the average everyday people being under regular Chinese law. Throughout China’s history, the society has been organized into a hierarchic system of socio-economic classes, known as the four occupations. The four occupations system seems to have become distorted after the commercialization of Chinese culture during the Song Dynasty. Even though the social rankings within the country are not as predominant as they once were, the people living within the country still know their “place” within the society.
I was born in a family with strong cultural and poetic atmosphere. My father is a lover of Chinese traditional literature, so he has put many efforts in improving my capacity of creating graceful Chinese articles since I was a little girl. I learned the principles of various rhetorical techniques from him and enjoyed applying them into my daily writings in Chinese, ranging from private journals, language classes assignments to composition campaigns. My passion for the literary glamour has been ignited since.
For centuries, China has been one of the most populated nations on Earth. In the past century, China has implemented new policies to limit the population growth, with the most famous one being the One Child Policy. In the past, Mao Zedong encouraged large families and abortions and contraception was outlawed. Naturally, this caused a surge in population. After his death, Deng Xiaoping decided that the population would have to be curbed if China wanted to achieve economic growth.
Confucian says “if I can hear the Dao in the morning I will die contented that evening!” For the reason being that in his time men of virtue and uprightness must take it upon themselves to protect and preserve this ideal or civilization would be doomed only when men of power are unwilling or incapable to uphold their order. Daoist from the beginning hold Dao as their primary source of the cosmos. Daoist are self-consciously they express a decidedly alternative understanding of the Dao and ideal human action. Dao is not only the deep transcendent entity that gives rise to all things but also the immanent core that exist in all things making all things equal.

Although China’s land is not as big as Russia or Canada, but their number of people make up more than two countries. Overpopulation in China is one of the serious problems that the world is facing because it brings unemployment, exhaustion of natural resources and also environmental at pollution. Why is China’s population more than other country, because
After the completion of eleven weeks’ homework, we have completed a journey to reap the truth in a small story. When I was young, I had read Aesop’s Fables which was translated in Chinese. At that time, the vivid story of human life, the wonderful language description, the thought-provoking reasoning made me learn a lot. And this term’s study not only brought back my knowledge of this book, but also let me harvest amount of English skills during translated English in Chinese.
These past years China has been developing in many different areas. Zheng Xiuqin, secretary of the China Scholarship Council says that, “The economic growth, stable political environment and international influence has
