Although friends can enter and leave a person’s live at any time, it’s difficult to underestimate the invaluable nature of a good friendship. Friends provide one with the support the support he/she needs during hard times, as well as share in the celebration of good times. Hyder Zahed, the author of the article Choose Your Friends Wisely argues that one has to choose the right friend since the old proverb says it all; "A man is known by the company he keeps." (para. 1). By choosing whom to take on as a friend, you’re chronicling your own destiny. Therefore, creating healthy friendships as a way of influencing how people judge who you’re involves taking into consideration a number of factors or elements that make an individual a great friend. The first thing to consider when choosing a friend is if the person is strong-willed or has a strong sense of self-control or self-discipline. Not everyone is reliable or offer unconditional support during hard times, and thus one has to be aware the overall dedication that a person is willing to make before making him/her a friend. The only people who make good friends are the one that can be relied upon when the things get tough, and life hard. In this regard, good friends should always be there to offer either unconditional financial or emotional support. This is the best way to stay motivated throughout bad and good times, or rather throughout a crisis situation.
