The personal characteristics of a Christian teacher play a significant role in ensuring that the Biblical principles are upheld. According to (Smith, 2001), the teacher`s personality affects the dynamics of the classroom. Jesus Christ demonstrates the principles that serve as a guideline for the teacher as he taught with (Graham, 2009) authority, lived what he taught and led through humility. The Bible provides the values and ethical norms which are a framework for a teacher to follow.
The personal characteristics of a Christian teacher are significant in the pedagogy of the learners. As stated by, (Palmer, 2009),`` You are who you teach.”, teaching therefore, emerges from one`s inwardness. The identity and integrity of the teacher plays an important role in inculcating the principles and methods of instruction, the activities of educating and instructing so as to impart knowledge and skill that stems from a Biblical premise. The teacher within their nature guides, directs and protects those in their care. They uphold the virtue of tenacity as they protect the interests of the learners. The relationship between the teacher and the learners is pivotal. The teacher who exercises the function of a prophet acts as a messenger sent by God, who speaks for God and calls people to God. Thus act as a messenger from God to the students. His character and lifestyle influences the teacher`s skill. The Christian teacher who exercises the function of a king acts as one who has authority and uses the authority in a right way to the learner.
