Is Christopher Columbus a hero or a villain? Christopher Columbus sailed the Atlantic Ocean in 1492 on his way to India. He did not get there though he landed in the Bahamas, or the West Indies. Christopher Columbus enslaved the natives, he killed millions of natives, and conquered the natives land for his own. Therefore, Christopher Columbus was a villain because of his many heinous acts. Christopher Columbus was a convict because he enslaved the natives and sold them to other colonists to work in mines and on plantation. He enslaved them to get rich.
