Columbus and his legacy should be characterized positively because he discovered many great things,caused the Columbian Exchange,while it was not direct,it was quite impactful. In addition,he had a terrific personality that led to many important events. Columbus and his legacy should be characterized positively for discovering many things for Europe,which was a great benefit. Columbus discovered America for Europe. While the Vikings,who were European,had already been to America,Columbus was the one to spread the knowledge of the land,leading to the colonization of the Americas. Columbus was a very confident person and he remained calm in most situations. Columbus was likely the only one in Europe willing to travel west. His courage and will led to his voyage,which undoubtedly allowed many beneficial events to occur,including the many discoveries he made. If Columbus was not so determined he would have certainly have not completed or even started his voyages. Furthermore,during his first voyage,his crew desired to turn back and head back to Europe. However,Columbus asked for three more days of sailing,and if they did not find land in that amount of time,they may cut his head off and sail back to Europe. In addition,Columbus was persistent and was not willing to give up. Throughout several years,Columbus sought out help for his voyage. Almost everyone had responded with “no”,but King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella said “perhaps”,then eventually said “no”. Eventually,when Columbus was about to ask the King of France,King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella finally had agreed to help. Columbus’ great persistence led to his voyage which led to further events that affected our world positively. If he wasn’t so persistent,he would have given up and never would have gone on the voyage.
