Sadly, another part of what made him famous in the modern world is the way he died, changing the way that we do blood transfusions forever. We’ve already covered some of his achievements in tennis and civil rights, but we have not covered how the way he died also made him famous. He died due to a blood transfusion that he received during a heart surgery. This is because the transfusion was tainted, and Ashe discovered that he had contracted HIV a few years later. Sadly, he died only a couple years after he discovered that he had AIDS.
American actor Christopher Reeve once quoted, "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles" (Brainy Quote). Not only did he play a hero as Superman, he truly became one in his personal life. After becoming a quadriplegic Reeve became a spokesperson for people with spinal cord injuries. A hero is a person one admires because of the qualities and selfless actions they exemplify to overcome adversity and inspire others. Heroism is apparent in literature, history, and in our own life.
The Body Silent, by Robert Murphy, was published in 1987. The story is about Murphy’s personal account of the physical and social changes he underwent after becoming a quadriplegic. Robert Murphy was an anthropologist at Columbia University. In his early career, he spent a year observing indigenous tribes in the Amazon with his wife. In 1972, Murphy experienced a muscle spasm that was later realized to be a symptom of a growing tumor in his spinal column stretching from the C2 vertebra to the T8 vertebra, leading to partial paralysis; he underwent a few surgeries to reduce the size of the tumor, but eventually his paralysis spread until he was fully quadriplegic in 1986.

She talks about the struggles and the fears that disabled people must deal with on a daily basis. Mairs use of rhetoric creates a strong sense of connection and understanding for the reader. In addition, made lots of people risk everything.
Reeve wanted more than this; he wanted a cure and he pursued this by becoming very active in raising money and awareness for disabilities of all kinds. In his 1996 Democratic National Convention Address, he uses rhetoric to appeal to the audience and persuade many officials to better fund research for cures to disabilities. In his speech, Christopher Reeve uses logos to support his goal of more funding and awareness for a cure. At this time the Americans with Disabilities Act had been in place, but many
