The movie Cinderella Man (2005) by Ron Howard, is based on the true story of James J. Braddock, famous boxer, who had it all before the Great Depression. James J. Braddock, aka Cinderella Man, was a boxer out of New Jersey and the pride of the state. It was 1928 when Braddock was living comfortably with his wife Mae and his three children Jay, Howard and Rosemarie. Braddock's career took off in the beginning with countless wins until 1933 during the heart of the Great Depression, the Braddock family was living in poverty. Braddock did not give up though, instead he believed, “I have to believe that when things are bad I can change them.” Braddock had hit rock bottom when his boxing career was thought to be over and his stocks crashed, he sold everything he owned to pay for food, electric and a home for his family.
Seeing my teacher (Mr Joe Webster) the most inspirational person I know break down and cry, along with many of my peers was a life changing experience like coming to Count Me In. I was angry at him for always making that a constant reminder. I went a week without speaking to him. He would send me messages and would call and I wouldn’t respond. I was sick of it. Here is where the RESPONDING WITH FORGIVENESS comes in.
It was the worst feeling in the world, having to say goodbye to one of the people I am closest with. If this had not happened and had such an impact on me I do not think I would be living the way I am today. My grandfather told me to live every day as if it were my last. He also told me to be kind and loving. I try to do these things every day because I want to make him proud.
He became my best friend, took me to school, came to my sports and we would talk for along time at night he became someone I could talk to and ask for advice from. Suddenly that all had to change, I came home from school excited to hang out with him but when I arrived his car wasn’t there. We didn’t hear from him until a couple days later and it turned out he had been fired from his job and drove back to nebraska. It was hard on me because it was so unexpected and I had grown very close to him I wasn’t ready for him to go. Today my brother is still someone who inspires my future and gives me advice for the hard times.
In that way, we might tackle the same situation in our lives when we face certain hurdles in our way which looks difficult to overcome at first, but if we didn’t fear those hurdles and have strong will power and an optimistic approach to solve those hurdles then we can achieve anything that we want in our lives. Fifth– It’s about how hard you get hit and rise again In this chapter of the saga, After all the hard work that Rocky done to build his career and life, he hits the rock bottom when he finds out that at age of retirement he lost all his wealth and insurance and he can’t fight anymore. Now he has to restart it all again to raise his family. He didn’t lose his hope and will power to rise again. This teaches us that, we have to be prepared for any setbacks that can come at any phase into our lives.
It is so hard to be apart of someone. The other one wanted to stay to fix all his/her mistakes and wanted to start again, while the other one wanted to be far away from what he/she thinks hurt him/her a lot and change his/her life. It is so hard to pick decisions, but we can only pick one decision, the decision that seems to be okay for us. It is for our sake. As long as our family, friends, and relatives are with us, we are blessed because they are with us to help and to comfort us.
It was normal for a man to have the most power over a household. However, Walter struggles to the role his family plays in his daily life. Because of Walter’s business failure, he was able to develop and find the harmonic balance between money and family. Walter was able to face Karl Lidner when given the choice to sell his family’s dream home in return for one thousand five hundred dollars. He confronts his greed and desire to become a wealthy businessman and realizes that he lost his only supporters throughout his journey.
Even after becoming a vermin, Samsa still expresses his desire to be able to continue working for his family and taking the burden of debt off their shoulders. But as the family adapted to his transformation, slowly but surely each was able to begin working. Even as the family struggled at first to make up for Samsa used to provide, in the moment of his death, he had been replaced with a sense of relief. Before his death, in the final conflict with his family, his sister exclaims, “It has to go… If it were Gregor, he would have realized long ago that it isn’t possible for human beings to live with such a creature, and he would have gone away of his own free will,” (Kafka 38). No longer able to contribute to his family, he is made to be thrown out.
