Business relevance:

Printed Circuit boards used by CISCO products rely heavily on Halogenated flame retardants and PVC is a critical part of wires and network cables. PVC is considered to be “Poison plastic”. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires that companies reduce the expansion of the PVC industry and begin the phase-out of PVC. These initiatives reduce legal risk associated with these chemicals.

Better packaging reduces cost for CISCO, reduces the damage of product during transportation and also reduces the e-waste arising out of product damage.
