Citrix (NASDAQ:CTXS) was first founded in Texas in 1989 by Ed Iacobucci, but later moved to Coral Springs which was the founder’s former home. Today, its main headquarter is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with offices all over the world. Citrix has been improving for the past three decades by inventing a new era of technology. Citrix has assisted many different types of companies by making their software faster. They have over 10,000 partners in 100 countries worldwide, including Google and Microsoft. Citrix is a leader in mobile workspaces, providing virtualization, mobility management, networking and cloud services to enable new ways for companies and their employees to work better. Many companies get support from Citrix, but one of its main partners is Microsoft. Microsoft and Citrix has a relationship for over 20 years. Citrix has many products like XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer, NetScaler, GoToMyPC, GoToAssist, GoToMeeting, SharFile, and XenMobile. It is initial product used thin server computing which allowed old or bad computers to work fast on high powered, large memory machines. Citrix later allow different machines to run on any kind of software, which includes telephones and televisions which could be allowed to connect to central software servers. These servers later improved many computer and the speed in loads in which improved many companies in multiple ways. Citrix main goal is to provide server, applications, and desktop virtualization through its main products: XenServer, XenApp and XenDesktop. The company's first product was the Citrix Multiuser which was based on a source code made by Microsoft called OS/2. The product later failed because it couldn’t find a market and caused the company $3 million. Microsoft decided to stop helping on the project in 1991 because of the new operating system Windows. Investors which include Intel and Microsoft gave Citrix $5 million to keep steady until it could sell its new Multiuser software. Even though Citrix doesn’t make many hardware products they do earn a lot of funding for their software services. In January 2008, Citrix expanded alliance with Microsoft to improve the virtualization to the desktop and server to improve the technology. In the future hopefully Citrix will expand and will create new programs maybe even more hardware. They might start to make their own devices and use their own services to expand products greatly.
