History of Clarkston
Clarkston and its twin city Lewiston were named for the well-known American explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The two cities are separated by a river which further highlights the state line that passes between the two cities.

By 1896, the Lewiston-Clarkston Improvement Company founded and laid out the town of Clarkston. The town is one of the earliest examples of urban planning in the Pacific Northwest.

The Clarkston School District offers a plethora of educational opportunities to area children of all ages. Boasting award-winning schools and programs, the district is home to 8 schools and approximately 2,700 students. The districts high school is known for its award-winning national programs. The school has also been recognized as a School of Distinction a number of times by the State of Washington. Another notable district program includes the Educational Opportunity Center. William B. Clark was one of the infamous Copperkings in Butte, Montana. As a matter of fact, Clark was the most powerful, and influential of them all. Even though today there is not much people who still remember him, he was one of the most important figures in the 19th century. He won fortune in Western Industry, achieved power in politics, and rose to fame as an art collector. Clark belonged to an age (1839-1925) when corruption, power, and money usually meant the same.
“Sacagawea and her husband Charbonneau lived with the Hidatsa and Mandan Indians in the Missouri River area Where North Dakota is now. Lewis and Clark met Charbonneau and quickly hired him to serve as interpreter on their expedition. Even though she was pregnant with her first child, Sacagawea was chosen to come them on their mission. Even with her traveling with Jean Baptiste during the expedition Sacagawea proved to be helpful. She was skilled at finding edible plants.

Serrano Indians were the earliest known inhabitants of the land that is now Montclair. In 1774, Captain Juan Bautista de Anza named that sycamore tree-lined creek "Arroyo de los Alisos," the Stream of the Sycamores, later renamed San Antonio Creek. Up until the 1890s, Montclair was little more than grazing land and a watering hole.
Hip Hop music star Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or The Notorious B.I.G., was part of an East Coast-West Coast rapper rivalry that included Tupac Shakur and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. A year after Shakur was murdered, Notorious B.I.G. was preparing to release his second album when he was gunned down at the age of 24 as he left a party in Los Angeles. For the next 50 years, Ralph Edwards the show 's host would visit the town on the first weekend of May for a celebration that included a beauty contest followed by a parade. the Lewis & Clark expedition, or the Corps of Discovery, began in 1804 and was given permission by President Thomas Jefferson to venture into the newly purchased western territories of Louisiana. France sold the United States the entire territory of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. This enormous tract of land “doubled the size of the United States” empire and was sold to us for “less than three cents per acre” (First Americans, pp. 251). The expedition was headed by two men named Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Their goals included exploring, mapping, and documenting every aspect of discovery along the Missouri River all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Clark was a map maker he drew all maps we have from that expedition, he also was a writer he wrote everything that they discovered down with Lewis, he also was a people person he got along with a lot of the tribes people. Clark was an enthusiastic person he was very happy and excited, Clark was also careful he made sure he made all the maps right and to write in his journal almost every day Clark made Maps so I think this would be his greatest tribute contribute to America our other leader was Lewis he had military training this means he was strong. The concert was held at Jazz at the Bistro. It was a tribute to the great trumpet player and St. Louis native Clark Terry. The concert was performed by contemporary trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling and the Jazz St. Louis Big Band.
