Classroom management is very significant in order to create a positive and engaging learning environment. It is important to envision what your classroom will look like so you are ready on the first day of school to have students know the rules, procedures, consequences, and expectations of the class. Starting a classroom management plan on the very first day of school is crucial to starting the year off right. On the first day of school I will go over the rules and consequences with the students. I will have a few simple rules which I will call guidelines and will explain to the students what the guidelines are and what is expected of them. The third guideline will be to be respectful to classmates and the teacher and to use respectful and not inappropriate language towards them. The fourth guideline will be to remain in seat unless told otherwise. The 5th and final guideline will be to keep hands, feet, and body to yourself. I will go over the guidelines with the students and make sure they are written down and visible to all students. I will keep the guidelines up in the room so students can refer to them and be reminded of them. I will explain that following these guidelines will allow for a positive and safe learning environment. I will then go over the consequences if any of these guidelines are broken. There will be four types of consequences. The first time a behavior occurs a warning from the teacher will take place. The second time a behavior occurs a student will be to come in during lunch for half a period of lunch detention.
