The greenhouse effect is a heating occurrence in the Earth’s atmosphere. In which the Earth experiences a temperature increase due to certain gases released in the atmosphere (water vapour, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane). The Greenhouse effect seems to be the main cause of the current global warming trend. This is due to the trapping of heat in the Earth’s atmosphere that’s radiating towards space. Where do the Greenhouse gases come from? Quite a crucial component of Greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide (CO2).
The Causes of Global Warming Do you know the biggest environmental threat today ? Does your answer no ? It is global warming. Global warming has come to a detectable condition and has gained importance in the last 50 years. The average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere near the surface increased in the 20th century between 0.6° C 0.2 ° C. Widespread scientific opinion on climate change, "the temperature increase can be noticed that create effects on human life in the last 50 years" is that.
Humans are responsible for making global warming and climate change through their activities. Some of these activities are the increasing of the greenhouse effect, deforestation and the melting of ice caps. On the other hand, there is no single solution to global warming and climate change that can directly end them but it can be decreased. For example, people should depend more on renewable energy resources to reduce the enormous pollution. Managing the forests and agricultural sources can also decrease the emissions of deforestation and forest degradation.
World wildlife stated that Humans and animals face new challenges for survival because of climate change. More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities. (Source 5) . Meaning that the longer we let it climate change affect our planet the higher the chance of the increase in tides, hotter heat storms, and drought. In the next several decades, storm surges and high tides could combine with sea level rise and land subsidence to further increase flooding in many regions. According to Nasa, Sea levels continue to rise after 2100 because the oceans take a very long time to respond to warmer conditions at the Earth’s surface.
Many species are at a threat of going extinct, due to fast environmental changes and habitat loss. Due to deforestation taking place in Indonesia, the orangutans are going through fast environmental changes and habitat loss. Animals have always been going extinct, but in the past century numbers have increased rapidly. It is important to protect species who have a big threat of going extinct. Another change that is occurring is that the sea levels are rising.
Every year the water rise from 10-20cm. Temperature rise : the rise in temperature which is due to the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere , leads to climate change and hence cause global warming. Shrinking ice sheets : sea levels rise faster causing climate change and which leads to ice sheets shrinking. This can lead to catastrophic flooding , and can cause huge problem to the countries near by. So what is global warming and what causes it?
Introduction Perhaps let’s first ask ourselves what is Global warming? Global warming is an increase, on a long-term, of the average temperature on earth. It is generally due to an increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, mostly caused by human activities. ‘The emissions of greenhouse gases on our planet has increased by 70% from 1970 to 2004’ says Couroche Kalantary, a reporter for Global Majority E Journal. (I quote him as he is said to be a reliable source by some major American universities).
For example, some Pacific Island nations are expected to be partially or completely submerged by the end of the century. Coastal and shallow marine plants and animals will be affected, for example mangroves and coral reefs. The increase in standing water may allow more insects like mosquitoes and diseases spread by insects, such as Lyme’s disease. Effect of Man-Made Greenhouse Effect The most serious problem that caused by the man-made greenhouse effect is global warming which is an increase of temperature on the Earth’s surface. This is because the Earth’s unable to release enough heat to space and thus leads to global warming.
Effects on the Environment: There are profound effects on the environment on account of an increase in our carbon footprints. Due to the rising temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns there have been changes in the growing patterns of plants which has resulted in indigenous vegetation moving to increasingly cooler climates. Sea levels are rising as the temperature of our planet increases and warmer water occupies more space than cooler water. These rising seas will not only erode shorelines and destroy ecosystems but also completely displace the coastal cities and towns. 3.
More intense rains, hurricanes and high rising sea levels will lead to flooding and potential loss of property and life. The hotter summers will lead to frequent fires leading to higher levels of near-surface ozone and smoke which potentially would increase code red air. As the summers are heating up intense droughts would lead to an increase in malnutrition as in the long term fresh water will become scarcer. ("Global Warming : Feature Articles".
