This case involves a possible violation of the First amendment by Kay Williams, a counselor at Greene County Tech primary school located in Paragould, Arkansas. Mrs. Williams decorated a bulletin board within the school with a nativity scene and included the phrase, “Happy Birthday Jesus.” According to an article written by Chad Miller of the Paragould Press (2011), the school received several complaints about the display. Miller (2011) further stated that Superintendent Jerry Noble contacted Donn Mixon, the schools attorney, who advised the school against leaving the display up. In late July, he purchased a semi-automatic pistol trademarked as the Five-seveN, which is one of the most advanced weapon in the world, in a gun shop in Killeen, Texas. And the reason why Hasan picked the Five-seveN pistol is not merely because of the advanced technique it used. This pistol also has the capacity to use an extended magazine which can hold 30 rounds just like an assault rifle. In addition, the ammunition Hasan chose can penetrate body armor more effectively than the standard bullets. According to the gun shop’s manager, Hasan would purchase extra extended magazine and bullets on weekly basis.
The reading was a bit hard to follow so I had to read it twice due to the fact that there was little differences between some of the guns. Going over the reasons why people buy guns, I fall into three of the categories I shoot for fun, hunting and the main one for me which is personal defense. I love going to the range and shoot some rounds down range along with just staying proficient. Identically, going over personal defense should be something that everyone thinks about. I have little girls that are my world and I will do anything to protect them.
There are many laws formed for conducting business. Such laws are enacted to protect society (individuals) and corporations. Sources of business law include Constitutional, statutory, uniform and case laws, etc. that determine how criminal cases are prosecuted (Kubasek, Brown, Dhooge, Herron & Barkacs, 2017). So, when businesses are involved in criminal activity they are tried under case laws, and precedent mainly determines judicial decisions.
This week article was Do-it-yourself Gunsmithing Mistakes by Jared Hinton and JJ Reich. In this article it discusses the very reason I want to become a gunsmith. I have to admit; I am scared to death to take a firearm apart more then the standard field striping. With the years I spent in the Military and personal gun use I have seen many people go beyond what they are trained in and bring a bag of parts back to the armor and it is not a pretty sight.
Which case featured in the Frontline story do you feel MOST exemplifies a miscarriage of justice. Explain your answer in detail and provide examples from the documentary to support your response. I felt the case of Erma Faye Stewart carry the most serious miscarriage of justice. For example, Stewart is now destitute, meaning she cannot provide the most basic necessities of life for her children. Her plea bargain had some unforeseen consequences, Stewart cannot apply for food stamps or seek federal grant money for education.
The Christopher Vaughn case is a popular case in which ballistics and blood spatter aided in solving. Vaughn pleaded not guilty in court, and the defense stuck to the case that it was a murder-suicide case involving his wife. Paul Kish, a blood spatter expert assigned to the case, said that the evidence found at the crime scene did not correlate with Vaughn’s story. Vaughn’s blood was found in many different places; the center console, on his wife’s shorts, on the front and back of her seatbelt, and on the carpet between her shoes. Vaughn’s original statement did not mention the blood present on the seatbelt.
Granddad or dad handed down a rifle or shotgun or maybe even a pistol to a family member, so there is an immediate bias built in. They may not be the best firearms, but what determines the best. Is it price, name recognition, caliber, or is the best firearm the one you have with you, because that is what it boils down to. You work with what you have, and can afford to have. You can of course, stop listening to the so-called experts on what handgun, shotgun, or rifle you need to run out and buy now before
Introduction - Ever since the invention of firearms in the 13th century, people have been abusing them for other purposes such as robberies, or murder. Firearms were also the main weapon used during wars for their effectiveness and short time required to set up compared to stationary sentries. Simple knife fights turned into horrific gun fights that could accidentally harm other pedestrians through the ricochet of bullets in the surrounding area. Furthermore, even after World War 2, the number of firearm related deaths kept increasing year by year until the 1970s, with 14.3 deaths per hundred thousand people in the US. (Statistia, n.d) This lead to the people requesting the creation of clothing or material that would be able to counteract
