Parents every year sign their kid up for club football, but don’t see what they are about to put their kid through. Football has always had head to head contact that violently shakes the brain, which can be fatal. While club football doesn’t always have many hits as the NFL has, but this kids idolize these players and want to be just like them. The NFL needs to eliminate head to head contact in their games because kids are going to start aiming for the head as well.
Every year dozens of football players are dead from CTE or diagnosed with it. CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) slowly kills brain cells. Just imagine that your kid becomes a star like Aaron Rodgers, but when he gets one too many hits. He gets diagnosed with CTE and his life
Redesigning the Football Helmet Head to head contact is a very serious matter. Kids, adults, and everyone in between are getting hurt in football due to the hard hits they take either in practice or games. The goal is to make football safer but people are still getting hurt and even killed. There are new helmets coming out every year but still not eliminating the problem.
An NFL football player will endure somewhere between 900 to 1500 blows to their head over the course of a single season. With an immense amount of blows like this comes an immense amount of damage to a player’s brain. This extensive amount of brain damage has been decided, by Dr. Bennet Omalu, to result in chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. Over the course of these discoveries and much controversy, the NFL has been targeted, denied all accusations, done very few things to lessen the risk of concussions in football, and the risks and number of concussions have steadily increased throughout the league’s
One of the biggest issues today in football is brain injuries. We all know about concussions, but there is another type of injury, one that happens long term called chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE. CTE occours after having several traumatic brain injuries, like concussions. The life span of a person who is affected with CTE is only about fifty-one years. However they are doing extensive research on how to better football helmets to reduce brain injuries.
Anyone who has had a brain injury in the past needs to be aware of the symptoms of CTE, not only for themselves, but also for the people around them. Football causes about ten times the amount of significant brain injuries compared to other popular sports (What). A sport with as much violence as football needs to be taken seriously. Children who are not aware of the consequences and the magnitude of the injuries they can sustain need to be protected.
Every person in the world loves football! Football has the highest rates of catastrophic head injuries (16).The long term health effects of high impact sport injures can be super dangerous. “Medical researchers at Boston University recently confirmed that 88 of 92 former NFL players donated their brains for research…”(15). “... NFL players who donate their brains for research suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy( C.T.E.), a brain disease induced by repetitive head trauma and linked to depression,aggression,impulse-control problems, memory loss, and dementia”(15).
People think banning football would decrease the amount of head injuries, “Characterized by hard tackles and intense speeds, the sport is conducive to a number of serious injuries, but there is one that has received a substantial amount of attention: mild traumatic brain injury and concussions” (Grush). Injuries can be prevented by the coaches focusing more on tackling the right way to anticipate injuries having to do with not doing it the right way. Also, most deaths having to do with football do not have to do with concussions, but with heat strokes. This can be prevented by pushing back the practicing season for football. Another thing, kids and parents know what they are getting into with the dangers and all, but they sign up anyway.
There are many sports that are too dangerous for children because they aren't fully developed yet and they have a high chance of being severely injured. More than 448,000 football-related injuries to youths under 15 are annually treated in hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers and emergency rooms, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons One reason football is too dangerous for children to play is because of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, otherwise known as CTE. It is a deadly brain disease that can develop from the repetitive hits and tackles young football players experience. Many parents start their children out at a very young age. However, because younger football players' brains and bodies are not fully developed, they are more vulnerable to injuries, mainly to their brains.
The long-term side effects of these traumatic injuries have led spectators and doctors to speculate the dangers of head on collision in sports. Furthermore, concussions lead to TBI which leads to depression and problems with their functioning. Brain injuries have led to famous NFL players committing suicide and losing their families and
Thesis Statement Kids are literally just dying to play football. This project is intended to dissect the reason why children playing football can sustain a traumatic brain injury. Youth football can cause traumatic brain injuries. This exposes why football is damaging to kids. Methodology The first step I took toward researching my project was, choosing a topic.
Since children are not fully developed, it is morally reprehensible to allow them to play such a sport in which they can possibly have life-changing or life-ending injuries. Far too many high school athletes get concussions from playing football (Watson 35). Approximately 100,000 high schoolers report concussions each year
“The impact damages the brain. It interferes with the way the brain functions, causing problems like headaches and memory loss.” Kids football has been a controversial issue because kids can damage their brain when playing football. Kids shouldn’t be able to play football because it injures the kid’s brain, and some of the helmets don’t protect the kid’s heads. To begin with, kids shouldn’t be able to play football because it injures the kid’s brain.
Dr. Bennet Omalu stated that children's brain do not fully develop until they are about in the 18-25 years old range. This would end up making their brains more likely to be harmed and damaged and if a child receives many repeated blows to the head they can end up with permanent brain damage which can also lead to bad side effects later in life. Concussions and injuries to the head are a big problem in football. So why should we allow the most vulnerable to be put in harm's way and risk their futures? The answer is we should
Why we should have a school football team All in all I feel that it would do better for the school to have a football team. Why because having a football team would help the school in a variety of ways. Kids will work hard to keep their grades up. Students will be on their best behavior that way they dont get into any trouble. Students will pay attention in class.
This is because they have the pads on and think nothing will happen, but at home and school it makes them more violent, there have been about 3.5 million injuries in youth football in the past years. Of course other sports have many injuries as well, but many of the football injuries happen because of rapid hits to the head which other sports are not like that at all almost. Although death is very rare in sports, almost all of them happen from the exact thing that football does to you, brain injuries. You never know how your kid will react to these
Elementary Sport Clubs By: Trenston (Blaze) Ricks Hey you! Do you play sports and are an Elementary student, and always wanted Elementary Sport Clubs, because i am. If you are too, this is the right S.A. for you, and even if you aren’t this is still the right S.A. for you.
