Most healthcare professions have their own professional organization that governs their code of conduct, their code of ethics, as well as their code of practice. The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is the governing body for Respiratory Therapist (RT) throughout the country. The AARC influences everything from the education provided during accreditation to the bylaws that govern the practice of respiratory care . Joining the AARC allows RTs to deepen their knowledge, develop professionally, become the force of change, as well as become leaders and mentors in their field.1 For most this enough of a reason to join, however a member must be able to give back to the organization. The most notable way is the influence a working practitioner can have on Respiratory Therapist code of practice; their hands on approach can help configure how certain healthcare procedures are performed. Joining the AARC would allow RTs to use the AARC’s social media platform as a way to voice their ideas to their fellow peers around the country. This social media feature permits RTs to give back to their professional community by sharing their knowledge and mentoring other professionals.2 In a profession that is growing, networking can hold the key to making a name for yourself. Coupled with the ability to network, practitioners are granted the ability to not only connect with other therapist, but to also expand their pool of knowledge. The field of medicine is always changing, and so, the education that we received in school may not be sufficient enough to keep up with the changing times. The AARC provides RTs with the latest information on everything Respiratory Care relate through conferences and journals.3 With this information, RTs are better prepared to not only serve their patients but also provide them with the most up-to-date …show more content…
The knowledge that I would be able to obtain through the AARC would allow me to not only educate my peers, but also accelerate my abilities as a practitioner. I want to be able to ensure that all patients are able to receive the most updated and well-rounded care. Becoming a mentor would also allow me to become a valuable resource to those who need advice or just someone to voice their ideas to. However, my passion lies with being the force of change. Since 2000, there has been over 200,000 students denied college aid. Yet, even with the new laws put into place to allow even previous drug offenders to apply for student aid, it has not aided more students to pay for college.4 Currently, there are only five scholarships available for Respiratory Therapy students, only three of which are available to undergraduate students. In my career I want to be able to see that number grow, my goal is to set up numerous scholarship opportunities for those in need. Respiratory Care is such a rewarding field, and I want to be able to ensure that all students, regardless of their financial disposition, are able to experience what it is

This provides valuable job skills, but even more importantly, it provides life skills that will serve CNA students well for the rest of their lives. In addition to the numerous benefits that a student can gain from attending CNA classes, they then have the opportunity to pass their knowledge on as they help individuals who cannot care for themselves. This often sparks a life-long interest in caring for others, and gives people involved in the medical community the opportunity to express their passion for helping people to other CNA
I’m currently a student at San Joaquin Valley College, working towards becoming a certified medical assistant in which I have proficiency in typing skills and accomplished CPR and HIPAA certification. My passion is the medical field where I can assist the needs and services of others while being able to connect and create a comfortable environment for patients. On an interpersonal level, I excel as a conversationalist to personalize each interaction I encounter. With previous volunteer work for organizations, I’ve come to realize I strive in wanting to make a positive difference in people’s lives and hope to one day be able to do it on a daily basis. Making a difference in people’s lives at times can take the littlest effort and in doing so
As we experience life through our perspective, we naturally develop our beliefs, attitudes values, skills and knowledge that all manifest into our identity. However, in a professional environment our ability to recognize our identity in respect to our professional groups allows the development of our professional identity (Adams, Hean, Sturgis, & Clark, 2006, p.56). In occupations in the health sector the professional identity of an individual will constantly be challenged and ongoing alterations will occur. In order to keep the community safe, government bodies set standards and regulations that specific industries must abide to. For occupational therapist, the Australian health practitioner regulation agency (AHPRA) work closely with the occupational therapy board of Australia (OTBA) in order to ensure quality service is provided from the
Final Course Deliverable The Healthcare Round Table, which took place at the MSU Denver campus on Wednesday, April 26th, brought together healthcare professionals and students to discuss the latest developments in healthcare and what the health institutes look like here in the Denver Metro area. The conference covered a wide range of topics, including healthcare technology, healthcare policy, patient care, healthcare innovation, insight on career navigation, opportunities for students, and networking with health leading professionals. After learning that there were possibilities of talking to a professional, I took the opportunity to prepare questions to ask them about their daily tasks in their institutions, as well as any obstacles they
At a time of uncertainty and volatility, I stepped up and decided to lead when no one else was able to. Our chapter’s motto is “noblesse oblige”- the idea that those who have been provided insight and opportunity must give back for the good of the community. All members of NHS had worked assiduously to achieve and maintain a position of respect and recognition. Now it was time for us to help others arrive at a similar position for themselves. Through mentoring, tutoring, and volunteering, we can help those who may not possess the same skills as we do, to attain their own ambitions.
Watching my mother and father, volunteer countless hours coaching little dribblers inspired me to take up a servant’s heart. This past summer I assisted my brother-in-law in coaching his little dribbler’s basketball team and I found the experience extremely rewarding. My participation in that event left me with an overwhelming feeling of selfless joy. Therefore, I’ve decided to pursue my passion through a career in the healthcare field in hope that I can give back to the community that has shaped me into the man I have
Becoming an Anesthesia Assistant would allow me to work as a healthcare professional, help people in their time of need, and have an increasingly dynamic career. I know that my attention to detail, creativity, and critical thinking capacity developed over years working in the medical field make me an ideal candidate for the Master’s of Medical Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program at Emory University. The attractiveness of a career with different possibilities and education expansion is energizing and motivational.

The fact that learning never stops, that you work and collaborate with some of the smartest minds around, and the uniqueness of each patient gets me very eager to enroll in a challenging DPT program with proven student success. I am very thankful for the experience I’ve had so far observing physical therapy and studying the sciences in my undergrad. I don’t think as many other careers are so open to allow students into their workspace and I look forward to one day being able to spark another young student’s interest in rehab therapy. Before my sophomore year in high school, there was little I knew about the physical therapy field but since then I have spent a great deal of time observing physical therapists and from all that I’ve learn I know that I want to become a physical
I know that being a RA would be optimal for me since I want to be part of a community. Being apart of a community is a key factor of being successful in college. I want to be a support system to my residents and fellow staff members. It is a highly rewarding experience when you feel like you have made a difference in someone’s life. I pledge to initiate a change in all of my residents lives.
