Besides, it enhances the understanding of human language faculty (Myers-Scotton, 2006). Since languaging consists of a simultaneous process of continuous becoming of ourselves and of our language practices, as individuals interact and make meaning on the world (Canagarajah, 2001; García & Li Wei, 2014), the way people speak indicates who they are. Language is part of a social process which is being constructed and reconstructed between humans and their environments. Consequently, equity among languages and those who speak them should be pursued in both educational and social settings. Translanguaging has become a popular language practice in recent years.
Idioms are used worldwide in order to express meaning more specifically. They can be seen as a mirror of human’s conceptualization in the world. Learning idioms is an important way. They are component of English and Vietnamese in everyday conversations. A study of the similarities and differences between idioms in Vietnamese and English is helpful to perceive each country’s knowledge and their own cultures, which reflects dissimilarities and coincidences of the two countries.
Introduction ‘Language gives shape and organisation to thought’ (Winch, Ross- Johnston, March, Ljungdahl & Holliday, 2010. Pg 467). Several fascinating aspects of language include it being a form of communication, which interprets information and passes messages from one person to another. For each individual language is different due to cultural backgrounds and beliefs, different communities and also the individuals’ capabilities. Speaking to a person verbally is not the only form of language, it can be writing, reading, listening and even body language.
Metaphors can be repeated, reworded or challenged in the course of a conversation (Gibbs & Cameron, 2008), and are frequently used to shape a speaker’s attitude toward the topic of a conversation. In conversation between native speakers (NSs) of English, metaphor appears to play an important role in managing discourse and in conveying evaluative meanings (Littlemore, MacArthur, Cienki & Holloway,
Increasing development of bilingual education and the evolution of language may be due to the population size, social, political, economical and personal requirements. Numerous researches show that learning a language can improve mental agility, it can strengthen brain, develop communicative abilities of invidividuals and strengthen and improve overall humans´ abilities and skills. The concept of bilingualism should be tackled because of the various definitions that are given to this term. Those definitions seem to share one basic element, which is the use of two given languages by a given speaker. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary bilingualism is the ability to speak two languages or the frequent use (as by a community) of two languages.
Fortunately, this claim has been proved by many researchers who have done many studies to know the relationship between emotional intelligence and second/foreign language learning in general and its four skills in particular. Being aware of one's and others' emotions can help language learners to cope with emotional obstacles and have positive beliefs about language learning, i.e., emotional intelligence facilitate learners' beliefs about language learning (Ghanadi & Ketabi, 2014; Golemam, 1995). Emotional intelligence is also considered beneficial in learning different skills, particularly productive skills (Pishghadam, 2009; Zarezadeh, 2013), academic and language achievement (Abdolmanafi Rokni et al., 2014; Fahim & Pishghadam, 2007), L2 motivation (Barzegar & Aref Sadr,

Cristoph Harbsmeier is talkig about ‘the influence of language on thought, how we are influenced ... in our ways of being and of feeling by our language.” He is also interested into the relationship between multilingualism and emotions as the bilingualism took a very important place in many people’s lives, imposing itself as society had suffered some changes in time. As François Grosjean says in Life with Two Languages . An Introduction to Bilingualism:”bilingualism is present in practically every country of the world, in all classes of society, and in all age groups.” (François Grosjean, Life with Two Languages .An Introduction to Bilingualism, Web) because it is a phenomenon from which language has extended and which has been there from its genesis due to the fact that there has been existed a contact between languages and groups of people speaking a language or another, which turned into a form of bilingualism. Also, I argue that language has a really big impact on people, naturally, because we cannot live in the absence of it. Harbsmeier’s idea that language has an influence on thoughts can be exemplified with Roman Jackobson’s communication situation: the receiver that gets the information from the sender is doing this by a code( a component of the message) which is made by words of a specific language through a channel is a context.
As a result of increasing modernization and globalization, it is not uncommon for us to meet, study or work with people from different cultural background. To communicate successfully, understanding about and sympathizing for others’ differences is the key. Otherwise, misunderstanding and miscommunication would be inevitable, which can have adverse impacts in many situations such as studying and business setting. That is to say, intercultural communication competence is a must for anyone wishing to succeed in this highly globalized world. Thanks to its supreme importance, intercultural communication has been featured in multiple publicities, including video, songs or movies.
