The Keurig a single serving coffee machine was an overnight success, twenty years in the making. John Sylvan spent twenty years of his life creating new technology that would reinvent coffee drinking, the Keurig and a compatible cup. The Keurig was a startup company that has inspired me by the tenacity of John Sylvan and his business partners to charge through with their inventions and earn the great success they’ve achieved. Although it has come at the price of our planet, this set back to the environment was enough for Sylvan to sell his portion on the company. The reason being, Keurig uses K-Cups that are not biodegradable, but when there was a solution made the company got greedy and changed the design and is trying to compact the effects but are failing miserably.
“Drinking Coffee Elsewhere” by ZZ Packer follows the story of Dina, a young black girl from Baltimore, as she copes with life studying at Yale (117-119). Throughout the story, Dina seems to be a fiercely and independent character that likes to be on her own and away from society. She always speaks her mind, regardless of the consequences, but her independence destroys her because of her lack of introspection. This helps her to give up things that will help her get out of her individualism. Due to this, she pushes away the only friend she has because of her inability to understand herself, and her toxic personality. She wants to keep hurting herself adding more pain to her life. She is clearly an example of someone who is in pain that needs
Throughout human history, many different things affected culture and history as a whole. From laws, to inventions, to technological advancements. One thing most people do not consider to be part of this list is drinks. In the book “A History of the World in 6 Glasses” by Tom Standage, six different drinks that heavily affected world history are discussed and analyzed. Beer and wine had an extensive effect on the world, but coffee is, without question, the most influential of the three.
Sexuality is a topic that is discussed in some young adult literature. As Sandra Hughes-Hassell discusses in her article “Multicultural Young Adult Literature as a Form of Counter-Storytelling,” there need to be more stories that illustrate the oppressed young people’s struggles with sexuality. In the stories “Drinking Coffee Elsewhere,” by ZZ Packer and “The Alumni Interview”, by David Levithan, both protagonists are dealing with their sexuality, but in different ways. In these stories, both protagonists make choices based on their view of their sexuality that impacts their love life, their education, and the adults they are forced to associate with.

A long, long time ago, in a universe far, far away there lived a young Joshua Fernstien. He loved to run in the Oxen cages and mess with them while they were hibernating. He also loved to frolic around in the luscious white snow, and make all sort of Snow Angels and figure eights on the tops or frozen lakes. Anyone that knew Joshua would know that he loved Christmas more than anything in the world.

Winter was just around the corner. It was my first time in the biggest coffee shop in town. I could see the cheerful and brilliant lighting of the shop as I walked across the vast parking lot. There were tables outside the shop each with a brown vintage style umbrella. This particular coffee shop is not a cafe, it’s a coffee shop literally. They sell the finest coffee from all over the world. It also has a book corner in the left hand side of the shop where we can buy books. They make very good coffee as well. This place is an ideal place for students and employees to release stress. As I made my way through the transparent glass door, a blanket of warm air hit me and the rich aroma of coffee which was delectable. The noise the customers made was immense which reminded me how popular a place this is.
1) Starbucks is a company that has been in the coffee industry for a long time. It continues to enjoy a leading position in the United States, which is its home country where it sells approximately 50% of the specialty coffee that is sold in the United States for many years. The company has continued to dominate the industry as well as its local competitors. Its generic competitive advantage emanates from its high-quality coffee, which helps to differentiate it from its competitors. The company is very keen on ensuring that its coffee is different from the rest of the competitors. The process starts by bean procurement where it selects the highest quality beans that are firmly specialty varieties of Arabica beans. The company inspects the brews to ensure that it matches the flavor, taste, and aroma that it needs. This consistent way of giving customers the same taste of quality coffee has served a competitive advantage to this company. Further, the company places its cafes and restaurants in strategic places where customers can see it. It does not need to invest a lot of money in advertising since customers recognize its brand using its unique LOGO (Melissa 260).
