The first album I chose to analyze was released from the band Coldplay. The name of the first album cover is called Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, which was released in 2008. The second album I chose came from a Japanese band named Dragon Ash. The name of the album is Viva La Revolution, which was released in 1999. I chose these two albums on how similar each cover is to one another and at the same time very different. They are both very interesting to look at and each cover has its own similar story. Each album cover has amazing detail, with the colors used, the alignment, and the balance of elements from top to bottom and left to right.
Coldplay is a different type of band. Coldplay is a well-educated band for almost finding

They both have very similar mindsets to why they are a band. For looking at this album you can see that they sing for what they believe in and have that rebellious look. They both target the same audience, but different to how old they target audience is. Looking at both covers you can easily pick out the differences. For Coldplay’s album they literally just took Delacroix’s painting and cut it down to a smaller size. Whereas, Dragon Ash changed the entire layout. The same painting might have been used but you see that the band members are in place for the people. Another thing you see right away are the titles for each album. Coldplay uses a title that is painted on with splatter marks all over the painting, almost making it hard to read. Coldplay also does not put their name on the cover leaving someone who might buy it with the question, “Whose album is this?” Whereas, Dragon Ash has a nice printable title with their name on it, that is easy to read. The overall look at the Coldplay album looks old, it looks like it actually was painted in 1830, in which it was. Where Dragon Ash’s album cover looks like it was repainted and is new. It also looks like the painting is in HD. The album can tell you a lot about a band and also can tell you what kind of songs you are going to hear throughout the album. Both bands were creative and really thought outside the box on designing these cover. You won’t see covers like these from other bands. Both album covers, when you look at them tell you a story of who the band is and what they are trying to accomplish, which is
Dick and Eric are totally different people. Columbine tells you about Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold’s massacre at the high school. It explains they both had anger in them and they basically wanted revenge and to be known for something huge. In Cold Blood tells you the story of Dick Hickock and Perry Smith murdering the Clutter family. Dick and Perry didnt really have a reason to kill them but for money which they didnt even get.
Another difference is the use of typography. Willems integrates the text of the story into his illustrations. When a character shouts, Willem utilizes onomatopoeia to translate the scream into readable text and uses a big, bold font to emphasize the intensity of the scream. On the other hand, Tonatiuh follows the standard and maintains the text separate
The Jewish Star and the Dirty Needle There are many ways to compare the literary works, GO ASK ALICE by anonymous and NIGHT by Elie Wiesel. Both works have similar aspects to them. Both main characters have a relationship with their parents, the main characters are in the works with having a relationship with God and finally, both of the protagonists have recurring images of death and dying. In GO ASK ALICE and NIGHT, the main characters have to deal with similar aspects.
It will also contain what the meaning of these two images is. For example, in the first image “9/11/2001” the artists drew the twin tower and colored it in black. They also made the background a different shade of black so it might look like they twin towers and the background blend. Why would the artists decide to color the background black and the twin towers black as well?
Cullen and Capote both wrote stories that depicted two very similar settings. They both inform us about murders that happen in places that you wouldn 't think could happen. Columbine tells us about two typical teenage boys who turn into raging psychopaths. In Cold Blood reveals how the desire for money can drive two adult men into madness.
They are similar because both of the protagonists are trying to rebel against the conformity that is endorsed upon the communities. They are also different because the protagonists handle their protests in very different ways. This is why both texts are similar and
Throughout this semester as a class we have gone over many different terminology, seen many artists from all different countries and time periods. We have also learned about different kinds of art and media that the Artist work with. Over the entire semester I have gained a greater appreciation and understanding for art. Taking all of the new information that I learned this semester I choose three pieces of artwork from the St. Louis Art Museum. Two are similar to each other and the other is very different.
The way he writes his stories with more of a post apocalyptic setting makes it more interesting. Also how he uses literary tools such as personification. He uses more imagery that Poe in his writing. So I think that he In conclusion, these two authors have differences and similarities. They both caused the reader to think about their stories and their meanings.
To do so, I had to achieve a balance between the map and the shapes. The first idea I had pertaining to this problem was to make one of the designs colored while making one black and white to create an instant and striking difference. However, I chose to keep the design black and white as this is how Flatland is described throughout most of the novel with the exception being the color revolution. Additionally, by keeping with the black and white, the emphasis is placed on the content rather than the color of the cover. To achieve a maximum contrast between the two central designs, I created the map in the background using a lighter gray and the figures were created using a darker color and a thicker stroke.
Album designers are less concerned with the actual artistic element of the cover and more focused on creating a successfully recognisable brand. Of course in the vinyl age artists still wanted a recognisable brand as with the release of their latest albums it announced the overall tone of the album and therefore cemented the brand they were going with for certain eras. These brands were usually fully thought out and cohesive whereas nowadays artists can rely on other elements of branding campaigns to get by. Technology advancement has basically changed
In making my comparison, I seek to compare the two pieces of work based on symbolism, the distinguishing features as well as the target audience. Madonna and child with the two angels is a painting of a praying Virgin Mary with two angels who are carrying baby Jesus just in front of her. In this piece of art, Mary
They are both very different and very alike and that is why they appeal to the readers of dystopian stories. They make the readers think about the future what might happen. Works
Although, they have similarity, the two stories has major differences also. First, both author differs the way they introduce and develop their lead characters to the reader. Second, they also differ in perspective from which their stories are being told. Third, they differs on the choice of settings and how it impact to the stories.
The other was commissioned by the government much later. This is a very realistically styled romantic painting using colors like black,
One of the clearest similarities is that both artists
