It is uncommon to have an occupation that is entirely individual with no communication, consultation or collaboration with fellow peers, as it is important to share ideas to gain additional valuable knowledge and understanding. Specifically within healthcare professions, it is important to brainstorm ideas with peers to form a diagnosis and hence a solution to the diagnosis in order to improve the patient 's health and wellbeing. That goal actually came true in a way because I only made three acquaintances only. Another goal I had throughout the semester was to go outside of my comfort zone a little, I really didn 't like to talk in front of the class.

Strengths Finder Reflection My top five strengths are adaptability, relator, maximizer, empathetic and strategic. It was not surprising to confirm my top five strengths because, in my work and social interactions, I find that I love relating with others and yearn to understand their situations and take them in that light. However, I am also a practical person who likes planning and looking at an issue from all perspectives. I, therefore, believe that I strike a balance as I am not rigid, neither am I too spontaneous, but most of all I try as much as possible to deal with a situation on its merit to maximize on positive outcomes.
For the first week, what I mainly did was shadowing the different staff to observe the different aspects of medical social work. For example, Phyllis, who is my supervisor, specialized in renal care while Scarlet, another staff, specialized in the A&E department. Even though it was a whole week of orientation, both Rophe and I were exposed to different events during the different days. On Tuesday, we went for a panel discussion about the different Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) that are part of the multidisciplinary team, alongside the doctors, in a hospital setting. Starting the group work, I was nervous, as this was our first group project which contributed heavily to our overall grade. My main concern was that it would be hard to gather the five of us together to get the work done; I was also concerned that 5 people trying to get across different ideas may lead to arguments, or people feeling pushed out. However, looking back these concerns were not a big deal, we worked very well together as group and I feel everyone had significant input of ideas for creating the questionnaire. Although as anticipated, trying to get all 5 of us together was challenging, we worked round absences very well. We started by gathering information and discussing the meaning of Philanthropy, this helped us then be able to start making progress on thinking of questions for the questionnaire.
We all think, work and function differently from everyone else, some people may agree with the majority of society while other people don’t, that is the beauty of being human. I’ve collaborated and interacted with a lot of people through my high school career, from just a simple class group activity to a club competition or even in a professional business atmosphere. In a culture that values individual achievement and self-reliance as a norm, we as individuals can stand back and know that there will be times when we can no longer move forward alone and reach out for help, advice, and comfort from others. For many, this is hard to do for fear of being looked down upon, considered weak, or unorganized. However, this is not the case many significant accomplishments have come to fruition from those that have come together and collaborated on issues that seem impossible to overcome. In my professional career, there have been efforts by leaders that I worked for to educate, guide and strengthen our environment to be more collaborative.
