The very essence of a earning a computer science in the country that I have grown to admire, has led me down the unbeaten path of studying at IDC Herziliya. I grew up in an environment where religion is paramount, while secular study took an equally important role. However, the nature of my community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Is to go on to a yeshiva in Israel. I however, have decided that studying in Israel fulfills my religious prospect, while also earning a degree in a study I have grown to love since the beginning of my junior year. Of my dozen visits Israel, I have found a genuine admiration of the culture and areas that I have sojourned. Of course I enjoy walking in the sandy shores that Tel Aviv offers, however, that is not the reason I want to study in Israel. Rather, the people and culture of Tel Aviv and the innovation that spawns in the land convince me that I have as much opportunity in Israel, as I do in the US. The high volume of start ups in Israel has earned Israel the name "start up nation." When I earn my computer science degree from IDC, I might take on the task that many IDC alumni have; starting a company of my own. …show more content…

Having attended a Yeshiva High School, I have seen Israel mostly through religious study. I've learned that God promised Abraham the land, and that it is a holy land. However, even though I have traveled to Israel many times by myself, living in Israel would give me the ability to be involved in secular society, in the Jewish homeland. I want to experience Israel not as a religious tourist, but as a resident.
