Please strongly consider my request to switch my current schedule, as my interests have dramatically changed, and I now have a newfound exuberance for school. In the past, I used to coast through school and found that suited me well. I had little motivation to increase my boundaries and challenge myself to grow as a person. After spending time with some highly influential individuals, my ideas about school have changed. I now view school as a way to become greater, as opposed to my prior view as simply a time that must be spent. Instead of just going through the motions allowing lower level classes to take up my valuable time, I feel it is important to take the initiative to pursue a more rigorous education. In fact, this new passion towards school has inspired me to consider advanced courses that will challenge me academically and increase my knowledge. To show that I’m serious about the …show more content…
Previously, I had no definitive idea towards what I wanted to do in life, but I now have a much better idea. Switching these courses would give me the best opportunity to find the route towards personal success in my preferred career choice. As you and I know, graduating from college is a gateway to success. And colleges don't want schmucks. They want driven, determined, academically astute, and well-rounded human beings. If I get the courses switched, it would greatly increase my odds of going to a college that would suit my needs both personally and academically. A degree from a prestigious university sets me up much more favorably than one from an unknown college. Some jobs, like investment banking, primarily hire from top universities. (In fact, according to Business Insider, the top five schools make up the bulk of recruiting for investment bankers.) Therefore, restricting access to the courses I’ve opted to switch into would be detrimental to my future
Reading this article helped me realize that even if I change my mind in the middle of college, I can still succeed at what I change my major to. The change will
An issue that could arise is a major adjustment in my study habits. Currently, my study habits may not be disciplined enough to achieve the grades I desire on a college level. Although this awakening might be harsh, it would force me to develop proper habits, preparing me for college two years in advance. Although the preparation that the Ohio State Academy would grant me is a strong reason to attend, the primary reason for my application is its intrinsic value. Although my high school offers a solid catalog of AP or CCP courses, the classes offered do not allow me to further my education in my fields of interest.
During college you usually focus on certain classes that go straight towards your graduation requirements, but if you hold off you will then have the ability to venture into other field and broaden your abilities.
In plenty ways the long term effects can turn out to be a horrendous help not only to you but to your college as well. When you’re older & possibly needing a career after the pros
Personally, I am currently enrolled in a marine biology course simply because it was the only science class left to fulfill my requirement this semester. As an English major, I have no interest taking this class and I find myself struggling to comprehend information that I will never need to know for my future career. Similarly, in an article for her school newspaper titled “General Education Courses are a Waste of Time and Money,” student Alyssa Pracz discusses her experience with taking general education courses. She argues, “The fact is that most students don 't approach these courses with the same sort of devotion as they do with classes they see as being useful. Professors, however, tend to teach the material as if everyone taking the class is planning on majoring in the subject” (Pracz).
I agree that I want to make a change; all I have ever wanted to do was make a change. I may not be the most decisive when choosing a degree, but my basis will stay the same, to make some sort of change big or small. College is a way for me to try things out and to find what I am talented at and enjoy. Applying to a university like SPU is a risk. I have never lived or been away from Hawaii for more than two weeks.
Choosing to take the challenging classes will keep seniors focused. Quote As previously stated seniors can get nervous for the upcoming year with college ahead. A quote from Cyr(2015) says, a person might feel comfortable where they are at in life, but if he or she doesn’t step out of the comfort zone, he or she may never know what is out in the world (Cyr, 2015).
5. All I could think is about wasting my major. I’m afraid that it will wasted my time when I decided to do something different and off point from my original major. How can I overcome this? I have to try for several courses that is related to more than one major.
Many traditional college students end up changing their major or switching schools, sometimes multiple times, before they graduate. As a non-traditional student, you likely have a better sense of direction in your life, and you are less likely to change your mind about pursuing a specific degree. You have the experience to know that there are certain career options you definitely do or do not want to pursue, and you do not need to take specific classes to discover a certain career path is wrong for you. Maybe cleaning up after a sick child has convinced you that you no longer want to go into the medical field.
From a very young age, I was keenly interested in computers. The world of the computer always caught my attention, and I wanted to seek more knowledge in this particular field. Computers always seem like a mystery to me, I wanted to know how they work and how exactly they perform tasks in few seconds which humans could take more time to complete. This interest never left me, only growing more profound and passionate about every new discovery I made. From communicating with an artificial intelligence to seeing the wonders of the Internet for the first time, computers have left me fascinated with just how much power yet mystery they hold.
Making the decision of what college was best for me, was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I was torn betweeen a private university and a public university. Each school had different things to offer me and seperate characteristics that I loved. My decision was made a lot easier once i discovered that Old Dominion University was more cost effecent, has newer dorms, slightly larger, and has more availabe recources to ensure success. Due to lack of Government funding, attending a private school is much more costly than a regular four year university.
I have a plan to pursue my higher studies in Finland since Finland is one of the best technologically advanced countries. Research facilities and advanced teaching style, practical learning process beside theoretical study make the quality of education in Finland one of the best in the world. Some world best tech phenomena from Finland like Nokia, Linux and angry bird are the consequences of its education system. Although, I feel that I am secure in the position that I hold at my current employer, I would like to make my options more plentiful for my future. My children will be starting their school career and I will need to be there for them if they have questions. I feel that not only will getting a degree better myself and my future options, it will also allow me to be a better teacher to my children. The influence that my children and their future has had on me will insure that I will do the best that I can to keep a great GPA and make CCU and my children proud of me. My goal with these classes is to learn as much as I can to broaden my horizens for the future.
This decision may seem simple enough, but before the student knows it this decision launches them with huge force into a journey they never could have planned for. This decision propels their lives in a whole new direction, it influences who they meet in college, what they do there, and how they spend their time. The major they choose will also influence their lives far beyond their college careers, it will influence what jobs they earn, where they will work; it even influence how people will look at them and their social standing. Now that we have come to comprehend the gravity that this ripple has, we must ask ourselves what influences which way the wave will go, there must be some method behind this seemingly mad throw in the dark. Because after all, are students really sure of what they’re majoring in?
Colleges make it a point that they would rather see students “challenging” themselves then not. When the time comes where you actually have to take these classes, your teachers might give you lessons about putting learning the material over getting the good grades, but you shouldn’t listen to any of that banal hogwash. When it comes to getting into the college of your dreams, all you need to do is deliver the grades and chuck all other information except for specific, important information learned that will be discussed in the next section of this essay. If this method
