I come from a small community plagued with poverty and low opportunities. My parents never completed high school and struggle financially. The members of my community are mostly migrant workers. The region where I live has the highest unemployment rate in California. Despite this, I want to better myself. I want to create opportunities for myself and succeed. Although I knew I was an excellent student, I did not know what I wanted to do as a career. Nothing really caught my interest until I came into my computation class. I found computers very fascinating and intriguing. When my teacher, Mr. Gupton, saw I was excelling in the class, he informed me about a computer repair club called Cyberpatriots. That's when I discovered I had a love for computers and decided that that was …show more content…
Unfortunately, the program was shut down due to lack of student interest. Then the MESA program opened up in it's place. I knew immediately I had to join. The route I have taken in order to pursue my education and interest has not been an easy one. Despite these difficulties, it was not most challenging obstacle I have had to face. The most difficult challenge I have had throughout my school year is transportation. I live 8 miles from my school. It is a challenge getting to school events I am required to attend on days when the school bus is not available. My parents are not always able to take me to these school events. It has been a hassle to find ways in order to meet my responsibilities. This, however, has not affected my drive. My want to pursue a career in computer engineering. Ever since I took the computer class freshman year, I knew I wanted to do something with technology. The problem was there were too many options available. I loved computers in general, the very subject fascinates me. I tried cyber security and was decided that I wanted to pursue that pathway. Then I was introduced into computer repair and I loved that as
I love working with and on computers. I find building one accomplishing and fun and it is the same with fixing them. I thoroughly enjoy what a computer has to offer and it seems like a good path to go on. I think it has good money in it and it is something I think I would enjoy for my life
If it were not for my surroundings and the meaningful people I have encountered in my life I would not have grown into the person I am today. All the skills I possess and the drive I contain stem back to the influence of my family, culture, community, environment, and education. Through the lessons cultivated, I have grown into a strong and leadership focused individual who wants to pursue a career in teaching and ensuring integrity onto forthcoming generations. Both of my parents grew up with single mothers that worked night shifts struggling to provide for them. They both went through extreme hardships such as the death of my Aunt as a result of drunk driving and learning to grow up moving around constantly from state to state finding whatever
My interest in computer science was sparked when I was first exposed to a computer eleven years ago when my father came to the United States from India for the first time. My curiosity for computer science was further stimulated when we communicated with my dad using a webcam. During intermediate school, I was enrolled in a Career Connection class. In the class, I created a presentation of what I wanted to major in during college, which was computer science. Exploring my career choices helped to further spark my interest in computer science.
Time has flown by and sooner than expected it is time to decide what career I want to pursue. I wasn’t sure until a few weeks ago, constantly feeling pressured by those around hoping I was confident about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I’ve changed my mind a million times, thoughts of money, happiness, and success were key factors into my decision, and I only had one college in mind. As I researched around I began to understand what qualifications I needed for not just the degree, but for the colleges as well. Many of my friends are still clueless about what they want to do, but I realize that no one is quite certain, even myself.
I’ve always been interested in different technologies and how they work. This interest started in High School as I enrolled in the I.T. Magnet program freshman year. As I took different IT classes in high school I learned many subjects that really caught my attention. From networking classes that showed me how computers interact with each other to programming classes that showed me how complex programs are made. I began to see myself working in this field in the future.
When I was in eighth grade I began to write tech blogs, read blogs, I won the youngest blogger award from TechtodayBD, a technology blog site. I didn't stop there. I came in touch with awesome people who writes codes, inspired by many online communities. when I was in ninth grade I was amazed by web industry, web development. Then I began learning HTML, CSS, PHP languages.
The passion I developed during my schooling and the prospects computer science could provide in various fields were the driving force in choosing it as my field of study.
We must acknowledge that there will be times where we lose our position, only to realize where we stand. Growing up life seemed hard, but now I realized how amazing it was; I had a family who loved me and I was never seen different (discriminated), I was always told I had four very impart jobs: have respect for people even if I didn’t like them, do good in school, always ask questions and never forget where I came from, little did I know I realized where I came from after I left. When I came to the United States of America, New York became a dream, but we must all wake up and stop dreaming; I did after my mother past away a year after I’ve arrived. The world became gray, for I was very downhearted and life felt like death because of all the
I first found out I wanted to be in business when my family and I were living in down town Grand Junction. We had just moved in and recently lost our car in an accident but we were fortunate enough to have some bikes given to us, so on days that I didn’t work the kids and I would ride down to the library where they would pick books and movies to check out while I would use the computers to search and apply for jobs and one day my better half Haley says to me “why don’t we apply for school? We’re not getting any younger and we aren’t as financially stable as we would like to be”. So I thought about the talk we had all week at my call center job until my next day off and we went to the library
After my 10th grade, while most of my colleagues opted for a general science high school program, I chose a diploma in Computer engineering instead. This interest had arisen while preparing for a
My major obstacle which I have faced within my life would be when I became the leader in the Army. Due to my military operational specialty, I had to manage many military equipment and I was responsible for the maintenance of them as squad leader. While checking out the military equipment with equipment lists for an annual report, I discovered that some of them did not properly work and missed out. So, I was really shocked and had no idea how to handle this situation. Since then, I tried to find a way to overcome this obstacle and discussed with my team members how to work it out.
I would like to become a Computer Engineer. The natural sciences have always intrigued me - particularly physics. After four years of computer science, I have acquired a functional approach to problem solving. This approach to computer science and electrical engineering is required to be an effective computer engineering, producing high-quality software and hardware all the same.
Being good in science, mathematics and having a natural inclination towards programming since early school days has shaped my future ambitions. With a strong determination and a focused goal to become a software engineer, I pursued the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Information
I’m glad you showed prompt appreciation : ) of my explication. That is a good word to describe what I did. I’ve become very explicative in my skill of teaching; not all types of teachers are able to explicate anything!! Ha ha, I find it both a compliment but an amusing joke that an engineer should say that I might be an English Professor. My first degree was a 4-year research degree in Psychology.
There is a hidden elegance within computer programming that although difficult to describe, completely separates it from every other profession. The ability to use creative thinking entwined with logic as a way of bringing ideas into existence, while also receiving a sense of achievement in the process, fascinated me from the first time I started learning how to program; a fascination that continues to this day. My interest in programming first started with me teaching myself, by simply following online Python tutorials, before attempting to build small command line applications using what I had learned. Python became my language of choice for the next three years, and during that time I created a wide range of programs.
