My mom always told me I am a very purposeful person. I never really got the meaning behind her saying this even though she used to tell me this plenty of times when i used to live with her . Growing up, i always had an upper hand in academics. Especially math. But being where I was from it was harder to make a good living off of what you have. In Chicago, I was the youngest of three boys. They both dropped out of high school and took a different route in life. Me being the youngest growing up with a single mom made it harder on me to finish school because they wanted me to be something out of the family, they wanted me to make a nice living. I remember living with my auntie because we didn’t have a home at times, We shared Christmases in the …show more content…
I love making music because this is what one of my older brothers first taught me to do. I loved to Rap, now i like to make different types of music and Write songs. I want to go to College for Journalism to better my Writing Skills and to be able to expand my vocabulary. I also want to go to school for Engineering because i like cars and love learning about them because of my uncle and how he was very handy. Once I finish high school i hope that I’m accepted to a college so that I’m able to make my mom and dad happy of me. to be a first generation accepted in college, This would show that my family is capable of making it to the higher life and able to graduate. Even if I only graduate high school This would make me accomplish more than what the majority of my family have did. When I see my family, it’s sad to say but they have been in the same spot they have been in for years and I don’t want to be like that when i get older. This is the Only real reason I want to get into college to get my degree. I also want to be able to give back to the people that believed in my dreams and helped steer me in the correct direction instead of holding me
Breaking the Cycle 16, 17, 18, 19. These numbers are how old my grandma, my aunt, my mom, and my sister were when they got pregnant with their first child. Most of the women on my mother’s side were teen moms without a college degree, some without a high school diploma and all were single. I plan to not continue this cycle. Growing up, I saw how my mom struggled to find a career she enjoys with just her high school diploma, even though she is a very intelligent person.
Unlike some of my peers, I did not live with two parents nor did I have any siblings. I lived with a single father who worked full time. It was always a challenge for me to get from place to place, especially in a very spread-out suburban town. I would frequently ask multiple friends or other family members for rides and sometimes I was even forced to walk to get to where I needed to go. Often times, I would have to wait for my dad to come pick me up from places even if it meant waiting a few hours or getting home later than I would have preferred.
As it stands I will be a first generation student. This accomplishment is meaningful to me because my parents have invested so much in me to get me where I am today. This accomplishment allows me be a positive role model
My niece believes that I am a strong and smart person because she admires everything I do or say to her. One of the things that she tells me is that she wants to be like me. One day, I would like for her to be a dental hygienist like me. Finishing my career as dental hygienist will make my family proud of
The prompt for this essay is quite simple: write about how your involvement in sports, community service, leadership, academics, and other extracurricular activities have affected your overall character. However, I feel as though this essay would be better if focused on my career in lacrosse and how it’s changed my life over the past five years, helping me throughout the good and bad, the simple and the challenging. Lacrosse has been a part of my life for about five years now. I started playing when I was in fourth grade, simply because I wanted to branch out and try something new, exciting, and a little bit out of my comfort zone.
I believe college will change that. Also, I wish to become a better man. With the absence of my father, I had no one to teach me how to be a man and really take care of my responsibilities. It is hard for a mother to teach her son how to be a man, therefore my goal is to become an outstanding man that can handle business and take care of his family. That is my ultimate goal and in return I will teach my son and he will represent for our family name.
C.S. Lewis once said, “I believe in Christ, like I believe in the sun- not because I can see it, but by it I can see everything else.” I have used this quote as a guide for myself throughout my journey to finding the Lord. Putting my faith into someone “intangible” and having faith in Christ has not been an easy task for me, given I was not raised in an extremely religious household. However, I was about fourteen when I discovered God’s word, felt my heart swell with happiness, and fell in love with Christ. That day changed my life entirely, and completely changed my outlook of the world.
Doing what I love and being able to support myself and loved ones is important to me. I am a very independent person and I like to do things my way. I like to set individual goals everyday, whether that means doing my homework before a certain time, or completing something for the week. They help me get my work done on time and efficiently.
Knowing how to sing is a blessing that may come naturally to some people, but to others it requires practice and effort to learn how to properly develop this gift. Having seen many live performances and having a dad who could sing was an inspiration for me to develop such a talent. Music has always been my passion, and I knew that singing would give me another exciting opportunity to enjoy the feeling performance creates. I did not have a natural voice from a young age so learning to sing was challenging and pushed me beyond my orchestral limits--emotionally and physically--but with the strong desire I had and the toil I was willing to endure when learning this art, I persevered to becoming a singer.
When I was growing up, I experienced many hardships that most people don 't endure. I grew up in the city of Phoenix, Arizona with little to nothing. I had one little sister and an older sister and brother. Even though I was young I knew how difficult my parents had it. My mom worked three jobs and my dad worked in construction just to barely support us.
Out of everyone in my life I feel as if my mother is the person who influences me most. My mother is someone who is very sweet and would do anything for her kids as well as her family to make sure they are happy and smiling. As I started to grow up and started to go out and be more independent that is when I started to realize what an impact my mom has on my life. Growing up my parents were divorced and my mom was the one who basically raised me on her own. She showed me right from wrong and guided me and pushed me to do the right things in life and strive for success.
There have been many people in my life who have impacted it both negatively and positively, but no one has had an impact in my life greater than my mom. This woman is just amazing in my eyes, right from the beginning because of the way she raised me, if I had children I would raise them the same way she raised me. The person she is, in general, has really had a great effect in my life, and also how she has always told me about the struggles shes had in her life from the ones I didn't see to the ones I have seen with my own eyes. I believe if I didn't know my mother as well as I do, she wouldn't have influenced me as much as she does. The way my mom raised me has made me the person I am today, so if I were to say she didn't impact my life I would be lying.
My families values, beliefs, and stories have been influenced by socioeconomic circumstances for years. As an infant, my mother was raising four children while working two jobs. In regards to my father, he was categorized in the of the working class and didn’t have a sufficient amount of income. Both of my parents achieved high school diplomas, but did not attend a college or university. My parents weren’t financially stable and the push for higher education wasn’t as aggressive.
My mom, my sweet, gentle mom. My mom is like my sister, we love to talk about juicy stuff and love to share with each other what we did during the day. I don 't like to imagine myself without her because she is basically my life. She is caring and kind and always have a smile on her face when she sees me. When I say her name I get a picture of her in my mind.
My family is very inspiring to me. I am very thankful that my parents brought me into this world. Growing up my parents always showed me how exactly things work in life. One of the hardest things that I had to accept was that I could not have everything I wanted. There were times when my parents spoiled me
