Seniors look forward to the football games, class seniority, prom, more freedom, and countless other activities. However fun it might be, the last year of high school is not fully preparing students for college or a career. The “traditional” senior year should be modified to fully equip and prepare high school seniors for the work force and higher level education. The best manner in which to accomplish this goal is to provide more dual classes, have a wide range of electives to choose from, and give students the opportunity to leave school to go to work. Seniors should have more
But music makes you smarter”(Jamie Foxx). This quote showed me that early interests could carry you a long way later on. Three salient things I wish I’d been aware of prior to my college experience are taking advantage of my extra curricular activities in high school, being more social, and attacking my grade point average early to ensure 100% success. As an incoming freshman you’re mainly focused on getting away and obtaining freedom, however during that first semester, you tend to forget your goals and purpose of attending college. Prior to me becoming a student at Prairie View A&M University, I wondered how I would pay for college because I knew my mother
You can also complete a twenty-one to twenty-four month program that will allow you to get a special type of certificate that is also valuable to become a radiologic technologist (“Who Are Radiologic Technologist”). With this career you don’t have to burry your face in the books or camp at your school. You just have to dedicate your time and give it your best and you will have your certificate in no time. Jen Powell also verified that most occupations do require you to have an associate’s degree, but if you want a better salary you can always go for your bachelor’s degree. It is always more beneficial to have more education and training when it comes to a career, even though you are always learning something new every day.
It all seemed great, but was I ready or would I ever be ready to see people in their worst days? It took me a whole year in college to realize that firefighting was something I did not want to pursue. Desperately looking for a new major, I started to consider teaching, but purely for selfish reasons. However, somewhere during my second year of college, there was a significant spark that led me to want to pursue teaching for a different reason. In high school, sports were everything, maintaining a good GPA was crucial.
Still, the benefits of a being a college graduate will never be diminished. Because in fact, that “gap year” could turn into two or even three years of sitting and deciding what to do in life. Or jumping right into working right after high school, leads to realizing there aren’t many jobs to provide and support oneself. Although many may continue to believe that attending college right after high school isn’t the right path for success, taking advantage of gaining a college education right away is essential for success in life because college broadens job and career opportunities and provides necessary experiences to thrive in the real world after school. It is no secret that a college education facilitates opportunities for the most promising careers and jobs in the long run.
My jobs, take care of bills and helping my mother out. I will apply for grants as well. I would like to be helped out with expenses my primary goal is to take 12 credit class till I get my degree, needing help for books, tuition, and fees. Room and board, as my family is moving and I am too invested in school, to leave I would need to get a place to keep on going to
The age of adulthood should be raised to 25 because the adolescents of today no longer have to face many of the tribulations that helped adolescents of the past mature into adulthood. In his article, “What is the Age of Responsibility”, Alan Greenblatt contemplates the notion that the youth of today do not mature as fast as they used to. Greenblatt states “Through the middle of the 20th century, the onset of adulthood seemed to come earlier and earlier. War was partly responsible for that, as 18-year-olds went off to fight in world war II, followed by the wars in Korea and Vietnam. On the homefront, manufacturing jobs didn’t require a diploma.
I love sports. One of my goals is to start my tenth grade year and I know without working my butt off everyday in there I'm not gonna be reaching my goals and am gonna be a benchwarmer all year but, like I've been saying if I do what I need to the best I can do them I might start who knows. Another one of my goals is to squat more than 200 pounds before next season. I know your thinking what's this kids problem what so great about squatting. Well to me it's not about squatting that much it's about being up there with the top kids who lift a lot and about getting stronger everyday.
Some people grow old but they never grow up. But aside from those people, when you think about it in the long run, the following generations will always be smarter than the previous, or they should be anyway, because they have more information available for them to learn at a younger age. Every time something new happens in the world, whether it’s a historical event or a technological advancement, it’s collected into the cumulative knowledge that’s been existing and will continue to exist from now and forever. The only reason this is true is because people die. If people were immortal then we’d have our whole lives to expand our intelligence but we’re not.
I learned about the responsibilities of a mature, working, teenager. I started working and driving. I was really excited to start growing up, but now that it 's actually happening, part of me wants to go back and just be a kid again; with no responsibilities. I 've been through alot this year; it 's been stressful but it 's the start to a great future. My moment of epiphany was
He taught me that if I don’t work hard for a place on the team, and if i didn’t I might not even play at all. Now that I am in middle school I’m smarter, more mature and I am older. I am 12 now and my parents expect more from me now, which makes sense I am no longer in elementary school. Now that I am 12 if I do something “dumb” that “dumb” thing might result in something worse than it would if I was 10 or 11. And I feel like I need to “adapt” to this before it’s too late. 5th grade was awesome.
