The most important one that will get her where she wants to be in life, is graduating college and getting her RN. She knows that having a steady job with steady income is very important, so of course she is going to move up in the health care field. This leads me to her second goal which is becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. It has to deal with anesthesiology and she is super excited to start helping people recover. Her last goal is to work at UAMS.
Nursing is the nation’s largest health care profession. It is fast pace and there is never a dull moment throughout the workday. Everyday is different and every patient is different. Although the hours are really long and the education is very expensive, being a Registered or a Pediatric Nurse would best suit me because I love helping people, there are jobs available where I want to live, the salary is really good and it will help me to pay off college debts, and overall it is just something I could see myself doing. One of the main reasons why most people want to be a Nurse and, the reason why I want to be a Nurse is, because I love helping people.

“It 's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Those wise words come from the one and only, Mother Teresa. Her quote comes to mind when I think of the career Certified Nursing Assistant. Another is “It takes a special person to do what you do, I don 't know if I could handle it”. It 's true, not everyone is fit to be a CNA. Being able to care for the elderly and bring happiness to their day, brings happiness to my day.
Nursing is a diverse field which is growing in scope every year. In light of its ' inherent competitiveness, it is proving more crucial to stand out as a professional, not just for the sake of hiring opportunities, but in providing the best care possible for the patient. While “professionalism”carries different meanings for different people, there does exist a common thread: communication. Everything we do as nurses sends a message, from our attire to our language. The content of the message being sent is entirely up to the nurse, but the various avenues used to transmit it are invaluable.
Being a Cook Children’s nurse resident has been a dream of mine since I started nursing school. I feel that the nurse residency at Cook Children’s will aid in transitioning me from being a novice nurse to becoming a more confident and competent nurse. I wish to be a Cook Children/’s nurse resident because I want to take part in the preparation that is received to facilitate the shift that is needed to provide excellence in quality and safety in extraordinary care. At the completion of the nurse residency I expect to have been given to opportunity to better the charting and documenting that is necessary for each patient. Also, because this is a magnet hospital I would start seeking certification in the area that I will be working at.
The way my mom raised me has made me the person I am today, so if I were to say she didn't impact my life I would be lying. The work values she instilled in me made me the hard worker I am, from my first job ever to all the hard work I am putting into my education now. I thank her so much for this because if I didn't have that in me I don't know where I would be today. She also raised me with a strong faith in
Wendy, I agree with you that not only DIKW hierarchy is good for evidence-based practice but most importantly is communicating to our patients. As a nurse, we are not only providing safe care for our patients but educate them through our knowledge and wisdom that we learned from the information through the classes. We communicate with them to prevent further complication or simply help them to maintain good health. DIKW hierarchy definitely is not only for nursing practice but good for our daily lives. Every day we are learning something new either from our practices or simply watching the news.
Nursing students must develop rapport with their patients more rapidly than clinical assistance or RNs because they will only care for that patient one time. I believe this unique situation has made me a better communicator and advocate for my patients. I have been on many different floors including an Orthopedic unit, Neurology unit, Obstetrics unit, and two different Medical-Surgical units, one being an ICU Step-Down unit. I have enjoyed my time on all of these floors and have learned so much. However, my best experience has been on the Medical-Surgical
I enjoyed reading your discussion post this week. It is hard to choose just one or two points from the ten that particularly resonated with me. I have worked with some nurses who have entered this profession strictly for the pay, and it is demonstrated in their work ethic, treatment of patients, and overall performance on the job. I respect your decision to dedicate your life to serving others. I feel that every nurse should have the kindness, compassion, dedication, and devotion attributed to Nightingale.
There will always be a need for a skilled certified nursing assistants, whether it is in a hospital or in a nursing home. Being a CNA, there is a lot to take on and deal with; this type of job you have to be ready physically, emotionally, and mentally. There will always be a need for a skilled nursing assistants at a hospital or nursing homes. All of the job responsibilities a CNA is required to complete can wear you out, but when you get to see that the patient having trust in you and feeling confident that you know what is best for them, is its own reward. There are some people who do not know what a CNA does and the lack of knowledge may result in them believing that they are not an important member to the health care team.
Nurses have the ability to turn what can be a frightening experience in a hospital or doctor’s office into a mild or even enjoyable time. More than that, nurses are healers, problem solvers, and compassionate companions. For these reasons and many more, I strive to be a Professional Registered Nurse. When nurses explain why they chose this profession, many respond, “to help people” or “to make a difference.” Although these explanations are selfless and inspiring, my answer is somewhat different. I aim to be a nurse for the lifelong learning experiences that will allow me to grow and develop each day.
There are elements of type I behavior that I would like to incorporate in my future career, autonomy does work but to a certain extent, they have autonomy during their work hours when they need to check things off on their to do list while caring for the patients, “humans have a desire to be autonomous, self- determined” (Pink 71). They have autonomy when working because they are determined to get their task done. Mastery would also be incorporated because nurses need intrinsic motivation to do what they’re doing, “Mastery is the desire to get better and better at something that matters” (Pink 98). As a nurse I would want to succeed every day at my job to do better and better with my patients and grow my knowledge. Purpose is also really important because most reasons on why people become nurses is because they have compassion for others and don’t do it for the money, pink sates that purpose is doing something meaningful and contributing to the
