Three goals in life have always pushed me to be great. The first goal of going to a Forbes top 100 schools has always aspired, because it is the cornerstone of my future. The next goal of becoming rich is second because it is the payoff of all the hard work throughout my school life. The third goal is last because it is the most important thing, because at the end of the day this is what I will be judged on. Achieving these goals will make me complete and bring me happiness. These three goals are what will make me be the man I want to be in the future. Going to college in my eyes has always been a goal that was not much of a challenge. Anyone can go to college with C’s and D’s. So I had to think of something that would make me unique, and not just that average guy who does not achieve the extra ordinary. I then thought to my self “how can I set the bar even higher”. This was to get into a Forbes top 100 college. For example, schools like Duke, Florida, Stanford, and 97 more. For me to become what I want to become in the future it all starts with education, and will set my future for success. …show more content…
Which I believe is a cliché that rots young people’s minds, and does not allow them to depict their own picture of being rich or even success. Being rich is not always about having the most money. Being rich in my eyes is having enough money to buy things that would sustain my happiness. Things like having a big house, nice car, and may other items. My thought of being rich may be different than others, but does not mean to have a boat load of money. What society has depicted as becoming rich has clouded today’s generation perception of
Many people do not have the discipline to stop spending money on wasteful things. Just like with a credit card, one is not considered wealthy if they own a credit card. People do not know how to properly manage money. While reading the story of Mr. Friend, one will learn that he owns a lot of valuable things but barely ever has time to enjoy those things and time with others because he is always working. People do not realize that simple little things you buy everyday will accumulate.
If Americans weren't making enough money to become “the fabulous rich”, They would buy items that will make them look more elegant, stylish, and
Tom and Daisy Buchanan have wealth however, they are not happy because of their money. They have extravagant meals and shiney possessions, but at the dinner party Daisy is distressed as Tom accepts a call from his mistress, even though she is married to a very powerful and rich man. “The telephone rang inside, startlingly, and as Daisy shook her head decisively at Tom the subject of the stables, in fact all subjects, vanished into the air”(Fitzgerald 15) In the real world this shows “Even the very rich--those surveyed among FORBES’s 100 wealthiest Americans--are only slightly happier than average. Wealth, it seems, is like physical health.
I want to graduate high school with good grades so that I have a better chance of going to a good college. Next, my goal would be to Graduate from a cosmetology college. Ever since I've been little I have had the fascination of cutting hair, styling and coloring hair. I think going to a cosmetology school is very beneficial because it's exactly what what I want to do for my job forever.
In the story, the narrator describes the rich as “different from you and me. [The rich] possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand” (Fitzgerald, “The Rich Boy” 3). The narrator 's description is very accurate, which is shown especially in the main character, Anson, who was born into a wealthy family and exhibits many of these characteristics. Tate, a critical writer explains that “‘The Rich Boy’ is not so much about wealth itself as about the effect of wealth on character, and the primary effect on Anson is an over power sense of superiority” (1). This superiority that Anson feels directly correlates with his upbringing because he has more money than most people.
This makes me feel as if wealth takes away the humanity in a person where we, sometimes, see a person’s wealth before we see the person for who they are. Yet, if a person has no material possessions to represent themselves except their existence then we see that person from a more human
At the same time view rich people as, “high on competence, and prompting envy” (Hoffmire). Although some view the rich as greedy. Those who agree with Hoffmire believe that the upper class work harder then the average american. Many americans express there admiration to people who get rich by working hard (Hoffmire)
Wealth, no matter how important an appearance it has, cannot fulfill a life and make a demeaning impact on lives until their

Many people in America have always been reaching far and high for success, but many people also have a specific definition of success, which is wealth. Just like in the story, relationships in present day are very flawed. People choose to marry someone who is rich instead of someone who they really love, and many couples cheat on each other. Unlike what many people would like to believe, money cannot always buy you happiness. Instead of trying hard to reach a goal of immense wealth and a perfect life all the time, try to do what makes you happy, live for now, and never take anything in life for
Setting smaller goals is nice because they are like stepping stones to my bigger goals. The reason I am so motivated to go to college is because I have the opportunity to be the first in my family to attend college. Seeing my parents struggle with money because they can’t get a decent paying job is one of the reasons I desire to go to college. I know by going to college, and doing what I love, I will be able to enjoy what I’m doing while being able to have a improved life than I had experienced.
Some people dream to be a successful and famous public speaker. Others want to be a millionaire or a billionaire. Singers as well as actors wish to be successful in their career and become famous. Teachers may hope to succeed in imparting knowledge to their students. Many students simply would like to pass examinations or have good grades in school.
We must acknowledge that there will be times where we lose our position, only to realize where we stand. Growing up life seemed hard, but now I realized how amazing it was; I had a family who loved me and I was never seen different (discriminated), I was always told I had four very impart jobs: have respect for people even if I didn’t like them, do good in school, always ask questions and never forget where I came from, little did I know I realized where I came from after I left. When I came to the United States of America, New York became a dream, but we must all wake up and stop dreaming; I did after my mother past away a year after I’ve arrived. The world became gray, for I was very downhearted and life felt like death because of all the
