WOMAN IN TECH: When I was a little girl all I could think of was the stars… but not the glitzy ones from Hollywood, the ones up there in the sky. I dreamt about going to space and became obsessed with the space program. To learn more about it I immerse myself into the realms of the internet to learn every single thing that I could and that’s when I found out about so many careers that combined my passions. I enrolled in a computer science class in high school and then head on to software engineering in college.
The side that I enjoy the most about my career is the problem solving aspect of it. I can feel the satisfaction of engaging in tasks or developing solutions that will turn things (programs or hardware) into something more effective and efficient.

It’s known that, in the recent years, men have outnumbered women in every STEM field. Sometimes your abilities get overlooked; there’s a stat that indicates that 64 percent of women in tech report negative interactions with her male co-workers, and my experience was not an exception to that. Also there are double standards: A men can be considered ambitious and smart, meanwhile women can be thought of as bossy, which makes it a little more difficult to embark on leadership roles.
But even with these difficulties I cannot think of doing anything else, because I am one of the lucky few that gets to do what she loves. And if you are a girl interested in tech, all I can say is be true to your passion, keep your mind open to new ideas and be ready for change and if an opportunity comes, whether in the form of a chance to be in a science fair, starting your own science club or joining a coding program, take it and enjoy every minute of creation, failure and invention that comes with these
