With the score 2-3, down by one with two outs, and up to bat in the championship game. Sweat dripped down my face from the 104-degree weather with college scouts watching anxiously. Examining how the pitcher felt confident as she threw the first pitch for a strike. The next pitch, I swung and hit a fly ball, praying the right fielder wouldn't catch the ball. As I rounded second, I saw all my teammates run out the dugout shouting from the top of their lungs after seeing my hit soar over the fence. Softball is more than just a sport. It has the power to change people's lives in many ways. This sport has been a transformational experience that has helped me grow into a stronger and more confident person. With this being a team sport, everyone has to work together and play their role to succeed. Having to share the field with nine or more people has taught me to communicate effectively, to support each other both on and off the field, and to celebrate each other's successes.
