With the score 2-3, down by one with two outs, and up to bat in the championship game. Sweat dripped down my face from the 104-degree weather with college scouts watching anxiously. Examining how the pitcher felt confident as she threw the first pitch for a strike. The next pitch, I swung and hit a fly ball, praying the right fielder wouldn't catch the ball. As I rounded second, I saw all my teammates run out the dugout shouting from the top of their lungs after seeing my hit soar over the fence. Softball is more than just a sport. It has the power to change people's lives in many ways. This sport has been a transformational experience that has helped me grow into a stronger and more confident person. Being an innocent 3-year-old putting her uniform on for the first time. Growing up playing the game of failure is not easy. I lost all my confidence growing up; nevertheless, I was able to gain my confidence back and have multiple offers to play as a college athlete.

With this being a team sport, everyone has to work together and play their role to succeed. Having to share the field with nine or more people has taught me to communicate effectively, to support each other both on and off the field, and to celebrate each other's successes. My teammates have become my family. Sometimes, I’m around my teammates more than I am around my own family. Growing such a beautiful bond with my teammates from the young age of three. Being able to witness them in their highest moments, as well as their lowest, and being able to see them all grow from preschool to

Ready? Let's take the field. Field Differences: One obvious difference between baseball and softball are the sizes of the fields. Softball fields are quite a bit smaller. The general layout is the same as far as the infield, outfield, and bases are concerned.
Having a dad that is a softball coach, has also motivated me to work my hardest, and do my best. I was only in third grade, when I decided to become a softball pitcher. I worked every day, doing the best that I could. Sometimes I was right in the strike zone, other times it was “miles” over the catcher's head. For a small 9 year old girl I guess I was pretty good.
Thesis: My 12u softball coach was the softball version of Abby Lee Miller, and because of him I developed key social/emotional skills that others don't develop until adulthood. The iconic, yet controversial, TV show Dance Moms showed the life of a competitive dance team made up of about 7 nine-year-old girls and one grumpy dance teacher.
Have you ever heard of softball? Have you ever thought of playing softball? It is a very fun and exciting sport- but it takes a lot of preparation before you can start. Today I will be telling you about the rules of softball, the positions, and the supplies you need.
Life is like a sporting event. The effort you put into practice, is the result you’ll get. There are both positives and negatives, but I have discovered that when things are negative, is when you learn the most and grow as a player. In any sport, you will have people that influence you on your team, and the team you’re against. In softball, you’ll face many obstacles.
When i was in elementary and middle school I was a part of a recreational softball team, not because I wanted to play softball but because my mom, who throughout high school and college was a softball star, wanted me to play. I was never good at softball despite my mother's and my own best efforts, I would go to every practice, spend obscene amounts of time at grimy batting cages, and practice throwing and catching balls in my backyard. With all of this practice you would think that I would have gotten at least a little better at softball, but whenever it was time for a game I could not throw, catch or hit the ball, and I spent as much time as possible on the bench. It turns out being unimaginably bad at something despite your best efforts is incredibly emotionally draining. My parents did not understand how someone who went to all the practices and always put in the extra effort could still be so terrible at
With every passing season, my teammates became like family and my coaches took on mentor roles. Sure, I remember some big plays and important games, but more than anything I reminisce about memories with my teammates and all the fun we had on and off the field. In addition to the people I met through the sport, this pastime is one of the main ways I have bonded with my parents throughout my life thus far, and I’m grateful to have had a steady support system in them. Further, softball gave me clarity and served as an outlet for emotional regulation during stressful times in my life, and contributed to feelings of warmth and being at-ease. Culturally, playing team sports engrains you with important values, such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving skills, perseverance, accountability, and strong work ethic, among others.
You can play softball just about anywhere. If someone is at a cookout and very bored, then you could get a glove and a ball and pass. Throwing the ball is one of the most important motions you do in softball, so it’s good to practice every chance you get. Softball can help you get stronger and it can build up endurance by running. It’s a sport with a great history, so your parents and grandparents and so on, could have played softball or baseball.
Baseball is considered by many to be America’s favorite pastime. Softball in many aspects is similar to baseball but in reality it is harder to play. This can be shown in all aspects of the game from hitting to pitching to fielding to catching. One major aspect where the difference is obvious is hitting. It has been scientifically proven that a 95 mph fastball generates 2411 lbs of force as it crosses the plate and a softball thrown at 65mph generates even more according to youtube.com.
My teammates and coaches have made a huge impact on me as well. They taught me that if we truly wanted something we can only achieve it by working together. Teamwork is key in a group sport. If you all aren't working together it will be nearly impossible to get the job done.
Over the years I’ve gotten stronger, faster, and overall better at softball. Four years into it and I have some great and some painful stories. I’ve learned many things about softball, but one that has stuck out to me and that also applies to life is that it can be fun.
I play softball because of the love I have for the game, and because of the feeling that takes my breath away every time I step onto the field. The softball field at Glendale Community College is now my new home for the next two years. Hearing your name being called and lining up alongside the first base line with your teammates before the game makes you feel worthy and excited to play such an amazing sport. As we gather in a tight circle just before we rush to our positions,
People think sports are just sports, but in reality to athletes it’s an escape from life, it’s our second family, and most important we feel like we belong there. Sports make you feel like your apart of something bigger than a team. Softball has been my second family and I have made so many amazing friendships that might last for the rest of life and even if they don’t, I will never forget all my friends or the memories that I have playing ball with
Softball Softball can be a really fun sport to play throughout school. I played for four years and it has been one of my favorite sports to be in. I stopped playing last year to save some money. Some things you do in softball is hitting the ball, fielding the ball, sliding into bases, and many other things.
