Student loans another. And the third is the value of most university endowments, which is or could be used to relieve Student loans. When I went to the University of Connecticut tuition was $600.00 a semester. Loans were rare and quickly paid off. You now have skyrocketing tuition costs and loans.
Education is widely regarded as a key factor in the economic and social development of a country. With the extremely rapid development of the society, in order to enhance their competitiveness, increasing young people choose to accept higher education. Yet, there are different attitudes about whether students should pay or not. Some people regard education as a basic right, which should therefore be provided free, while others think the individual student should have to shoulder some of the costs of his or her education. According to Matt Bruenig’s Dissent article “The Case Against Free College: Free college is paid for by the working class people who don 't attend”, Bruenig against the free college because it seems more fair and benefit to
Thesis: While the cost of college is increasing rapidly and higher each year, leaving with many graduates post incurred debt, it is still deemed necessary for one to pursue and obtain a degree in today’s workforce.
“It’s an irrefutable fact that college gives you a significant and persistent advantage decade after decade” (Daly, 2). However, not knowing what you want to do and not succeeding at it would make the college tuition not worth the money. College is very important because of the life experiences and financial gain you will have.
Make College More Affordable In the past 30 years, college tuition for private institutions has increased by 146 percent, two year colleges rose by 150 percent and state four year universities by 225 percent (trends.collegeboard.org). Because of these drastic increases in tuition, college is becoming more unaffordable for the average American. People are starting to question if college is worth the expense. According to Washingtonmonthly.com, state support for public colleges and universities has fallen about 26 percent within the last 20 years.
The rise of college tuition rates is one of the major concerns the government is facing at this very moment. Within the millions of people attending college all over the world, America ranks number one when it comes to the highest tuition rates. Students across the United States have rallied and protested before the school boards to lower these outrageous tuition prices, but none thus far have yet to succeed. Tuition costs are higher than they have ever been throughout history and will continue to rise until a solution is achieved. Colleges today require a certain number of general education (G.E) courses, which must be completed during students first 2 years. These general education courses often have absolutely nothing to do with ones intended
High school seniors have a lot to think about that last year of college. From decisions on prom attire to homecoming king and queen, the biggest decision of all is figuring out where to continue their education. While soon-to-be students are thinking about the best place for parties or the best education, the parents are thinking about the cost of their child’s needs. What is the real cost of college is what many parents (even students) try to figure out as their student debt grows. The average family cannot afford the average four year cost of a college student because the cost of tuition is too high, housing and meal plans are too extreme, and students struggle keeping their workload (from school and jobs) while athletes are normally forbidden to have jobs.
Some college students are working part-time jobs and are full-time students. Perhaps, working through college will not always cover all of a student's education expenses including books, supplies, room and board. If free tuition is given, students will have further time to educate themselves. Moreover, college tuition and prices are at an all-time high. Each year, prices are rising higher and higher.
Ibrahim Demry Ms.Milliner EES21QH-04 9/24/16 There are a lot of factors that could influence a person to go to college such as getting paid more than high school graduates, acquiring new skills, just getting a better education, because certain jobs require you to have a college degree, or because you want to learn new skills to do a specific job. The factors that are influencing my decision to go to college are getting paid more money, learning more about what I want to do in the future, because not everyone in my family had the opportunity to go to college and I don't want to waste my chance, or simply because everyone expects me to go to college. One thing that can influence a person's decision to go to college is getting paid more money.
