Most directors and managers focus on improving the efficiency of processes with the software currently available, but ignore solutions that require major changes. Developing new applications is expensive and time consuming, so for them, there is no urgency to take the risk if not required. Legacy software has been used since the 1970’s with enhancements, but the overall framework is outdated and future capabilities are limited. I will share my experiences and propose new ideas to improve current procedures from the perspective of a junior analyst. Executives normally view processes from a high level with less detail associated with each process, and may not understand the day to day challenges faced.

When recording financial activity of a business, “any increase in expense (debit) must be offset by a decrease in assets or an increase in liability (credit)” (Routh 464). Any expense for any office supplies decreases cash or increases accounts payable. Each account is assigned a number to enter data in a list of categories “to track the sub-accounts of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and equity” (Routh 464). This is a way to bookkeep the charts of accounts.

To have a well-rounded answer when talking about IKEA’s espoused values, I cannot discount the influence of Swedish, thus I will talk about how Swedish culture is also reflected in the store as well, and at the same time, identify the various cultural artefacts. Next, I will argue on the reasons why IKEA focuses on Swedish culture. I will then talk about the prominence of local culture in IKEA Tampines, and the interaction between local culture and IKEA’s espoused values, and conclude
