Cesar Aguilera Forensics Columbine The book I choose was Columbine by Dave Cullen, the story of two high school students, 18 year old Eric Harris and 17 year old Dylan Klebold, who terrorize the lives of hundreds of students at Columbine High School. The shooting took place on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School. They’re plan was to plant two propane bombs in the middle of their schools cafeteria and another miles away to distract the police at a certain time. They planned on the bombs doing most of the work, but after the malfunction of both bombs, Dylan and Eric became restless and began to barge in the school and shoot people who got in their way. They entered through the west doors and made their way to the cafeteria and …show more content…
The evidence was put together by when it happened, for example the journals and videotapes that were filmed were put towards the beginning because they happened before the shooting. Ballistics reports were placed towards the middle with all other evidence that can be found during the shooting. Autopsies and testimonial evidence was towards the end because most people were interviewed after the shooting. Overall the evidence was carefully captured and safely stored. At the time there were no new techniques for collecting evidence so they did it like they usually did. With ballistics, they observed the ammunition and could project where the victims where, when they were shot and where the criminal was placed. They can also check the ammunition and weapons and trace them to their exact location of the sale and who sold it. Well the only testimonial evidence was all the interviews that happened after the crime, which helped the sheriff’s office put together what had happened. They could not be used to convict the criminals because they committed suicide before they were arrested. The only evidence that was used to convict someone was the ballistics report which helped the police see who sold the guns to Dylan and
The physical evidence also shows both of the horse pistols that were used. The pistols were on the sides of his body, but that was not where the bullet wounds were in his body. The bullets were found in his skull and his upper stomach. If he was to shoot himself the gun would land on his stomach and behind his head. This evidence proves he was murdered because he would not be able to shoot himself in those places where the bullets were and the guns land on his side.
The Killer Angels, a book written by Michael Shaara that explains the crucial Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War, along with the perspectives and lives of both the leaders of North and South. The bloodiest battle of the Civil War is explained through the eyes of the leaders of Union and Confederates in a way that is breathtaking and exhilarating. Even though South was determined and bold; The North was able to wear the confederates down because of their leaders who had a strategic plan and clear concept of war to take in prisoners and win for the sake of freedom. The essential concept of war for the Unions meant to free the prisoner slaves and restore the balance and freedom to the country they had fought from the British.
The Essence of Betrayal The American Revolution was a war of principles fought between the loyalists who believed in neutrality, peaceful negotiation, against treason, and against loss of land. Irony convinces Tim to take a neutral stance toward war because of the senseless brutality against Life, Jerry, and Sam.
Shin Dong-hyuk lived in a North Korean camp for most of his life. As of right now, there are about 150,000 to 200,000 people imprisoned in these camps. In the biography Escape from Camp 14 by Blaine Harden, Shin Dong-hyuk is the only known prisoner in North Korea's camps to have escaped. Shin was born in Camp 14 and grew up without any knowledge of the outside world. Many things happened to him, he witnessed a fellow student beaten to death; he was badly burned over hot coals; had a finger chopped off; was lice-ridden, cold, and nearly always hungry.
Columbine High School can forever be associated with the massacre that took place April 20, 1999. Dave Cullen, author of Columbine, captures the heart wrenching and cruel events that unfolded that April through his analysis of the normalities within the day and specific dialogue. Using many rhetorical devices, Cullen develops an agonizing emotion behind the terrible truth; it can happen anywhere. While spreading the terrible truth, he manages to also spread light on the events of April 20 in order to debunk bullying motives and help all people understand the idea of psychopaths.
There is nothing one would not do for someone who is genuinely a friend. In the short story by Andre Dubus, “Killings,” Willis aids his best friend, Matt, in organizing and murdering the man who killed Matt’s son, Frank. Willis is drawn to this act of murder out of devotion to his friendship with Matt and his desire to see justice done to the killer which reveals that humans have a tendency to do whatever it takes for family or loved ones before what is morally right or wrong. Many people would not do certain actions without motivation from those around them. Willis functions in this short story to aid and motivate Matt in the murder of Richard Strout after he shot and murdered Frank.
Michael Moore created the documentary Fahrenheit 911 to try and persuade viewers into believing the conspiracy theory that President George W. Bush had something to do with the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre on September 11th, 2001. Debbie Melnyle and Rick Caine created Manufacturing Dissent to expose the ways in which Michael Moore is trying to convince viewers of what he believes. The two documentaries are different when it comes to content, tone and style. They both have their own way of going about persuading their viewers into believing their opinion.
Bodyguard of Lies Anthony Cave Brown’s book, Bodyguard of Lies, follows the development of the plans, as well as the many deceptions used for the invasion of Western Europe during the Second World War through roughly 947 informative pages. Brown’s title of the book undoubtedly came from Winston Churchill’s famous wartime quote, “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.” Bodyguard of Lies follows mainly the operations and events of Operation Bodyguard, as the larger strategic plan of Operation Neptune, the overall encompassing operation including Operation Overlord and Bodyguard. School violence is an all too common event reported throughout history. Shootings and massacres are not a recent phenomenon, however, a historical recurrence . The first known case of a school massacre was reported July, 26th, 1764, an incident of the Pontiac War. Three Native American men raided a schoolhouse, in now present day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and killed the Schoolmaster, Enoch Brown, and took the lives of 10 boys. Hundreds of years later, cases such as these happen all too frequently.
Eric wanted to kill as many people as possible, which would also affect their families. His way of manipulation was by letting everyone know that he was doing better in school and improving his behavior. Once he realized that the bombs were not going off, he decided to go in and start shooting.
In recent discussions of Columbine by Dave Cullen, a controversial issue has been what led Eric and Dylan to cause a high school massacre. On the one hand, some argue they had been bullied and were apart of a group of social outcasts, called Trenchcoat Mafia that was associated by Goth culture or maybe even violent video games, which is what led to them their actions. From this perspective, people believed they wanted revenge on those who bullied them or being apart of a social outcast group led them to feeling excluded, looked down upon, or even rejected which may have led to a dark life. On the other hand, others would argue that Eric and Dylan’s was not focused on killing anyone specific, like jocks, rather they were just objected to killing a large spree. Eric and Dylan were looking to do a great damage to the world, but instead settled on their school.
On April 20, 1999, two disturbed teenage boys Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris began a killing rampage at Columbine High School in the suburban town of Littleton, Colorado. This was considered one of the worst school shootings to occur at that time. In the morning of April 20, before noon, the two juveniles had killed 13 people to include 12 students and 1 teacher; they also wounded another 23 people before turning the guns on themselves. This event would change the theories as to why school shootings would occur. (History)
