In 1999, we had 10 bands at the Mitchell Persimmon Festival ... for it was their 150th anniversary and they paid the bands to come). These days - most bands (such as ours) are out every Saturday traveling to contests around the State of Indiana. Sundays have become a "day of rest." However - it is really important to represent your community at the hometown parade, so Paoli Band is glad to do their
This picture was taken in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium. I was here with my family watching the Outback Bowl on January 1st, 2016 where the Tennessee Volunteers and the Northwestern Wildcats were playing. My brother and I got the tickets from our parents for Christmas, we were very excited because we had never been to a college or NFL football game before. Our parents decided to get us these tickets since my brother played football for school and really enjoyed it. On December 30th, 2015 they had pep rally on Clearwater Beach where they had the school bands perform and they introduced the players.

It won 't be at a dueling piano bar, but renditions of "Sweet Caroline" are sure to be heard this weekend, anyway. The Grammy Awards are to be held on Feb. 8, but two days prior to the glitz and glamour the man of the evening will be the one and only Neil Diamond. Diamond was named the 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year, and the legendary vocalist will be honored for the recognition Feb. 6 at the Grammy Week gala dinner and concert. Six-time Grammy Award winners the Foo Fighters may seem like unlikely prospects to pay tribute to this contemporary soft rock singer/songwriter, but Dave Grohl and Co. will take the lead in tackling a tribute concert chalk full of Neil Diamond classics, from "Sweet Caroline" to "I 've Been This Way Before." The Foo Fighters will take the stage in a Diamond-filled night alongside other music heavyweights like Josh Groban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kid Rock, Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Hudson and more, all of whom will be performing Neil Diamond songs in the concert.
Taking the field the Evolution “East Peoria Marching Raiders, you may take the field in competition.” During the four years of high school, I was able to get involved with the East Peoria High School Band program. The marching band has evolved since I joined in 2011 and it has been improving each year. My freshman year we used to march trombones, I was probably the worst one on the field when it came to the marching aspect. There was a lot of foundation work being planted as I learned the terms, how to read drill, remembering counts, memorizing music, managing homework on long Tuesday night rehearsals and most importantly how to enjoy oneself in the midst of a struggle. This was just the first year!

Truth or Consequences, New Mexico Back in the 1950s, the ever-popular quiz show called Truth or Consequences made a promise to telecast from the first town that would rename itself after the show. That city was Hot Springs, New Mexico. For the next 50 years, Ralph Edwards the show 's host would visit the town on the first weekend of May for a celebration that included a beauty contest followed by a parade.

Southern people typically like country music. We looked at ticket sells from past country performers at various stadiums in the south and they grossed higher ticket sells in the 20% range. We chose Sam Hunt based on our budget. There was five days before the performance date and Sam Hunt had still not met with us in person with his agent. Myself and two other co-workers got into a car to drive to Alabama, which is where Sam was at the time, to meet him.

With only a few weeks remaining in this course and with all the different quizzes and discussion posts we have done I can say since my last concert I attended I have grown more comfortable with the styles of music we have went through. For my second Concert Report I really wanted to go to another performance that had an added feature to it to make the performance that much more enjoyable. Right after submitting my first concert report I started looking through the concert calendar to see which ones intrigued me the most. My attention was instantly caught by one performance happening right before Thanksgiving break began. This performance happened to be the film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark with the orchestra performing all of the music that is played throughout the duration of the film.
The bus ride to the Amherst meet was just like any other that season. We were listening to music, talking, and joking about how much we were going to lose by. For so far in my rookie year we had lost every race. We walked the course before the race, but no one was really paying attention, we were still thinking about last night’s spaghetti supper. Carbo-loading before a meet while playing football and sitting by the fire had long been a tradition for our team.
Every Saturday, we had Powder Puff practice a few hours after our regular football practice. I usually spent this time with my friends playing touch football on the field. Because of the high winds that day, we had to forego the game. Instead of waiting in the bleachers, we decided to go out to lunch. My friends decided on a spot with which I wasn’t that familiar but I had been to once before.
It happened on our road trip this summer at Six Flags in Colorado. My cousins and I made a deal that we had to try every ride they suggested at least once. Now, this sounded like a superb deal to me for I am always up for a daring adventure and how bad could it be, they are just rides. I remember how brimful the place was, it felt like I was at black Friday with all of the parents hustling and bustling around with arms filled with shopping bags or I was at a high school party because the profuse number of high schoolers was endless or perhaps I was at preschool with
Going to Southern California, no one would think of packing an umbrella. Why would they? California is in the middle of a drought. When someone thinks of California, they think of baby blue skies and palm trees along the streets. But, of course, the weekend my family decided to visit Disneyland, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld is the weekend Southern California experienced what the local news called a “tropical depression.” After driving five hours from San Jose to Los Angeles in a compact Honda Civic, my mom, brother, me, and my cousin, Harneet, rushed to get to our first stop, Disneyland, as fast as possible.
Louis, we perform all we have at that point which isn’t much seeing as it’s early in the season. Before state rolls around, we spend much time fixing and working out the issues we faced in Super Regionals, while adding on to the show. By the end, when Grand Nationals come around, we have no more left to add, just reviewing and touching up the show. Participating in Grand Nationals is an exciting experience. Starting when we leave the high school, all the way to giving our last performance, I never know what to feel.
