IT exemplars: what are some examples of ways that they use IT strategically?

According to the definition, Information Technology is the application of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a business. Now-a-days, just in order to survive, business must stay up to date with the latest technology. Most of which can lead to further success in the business allowing the operants to gather and analyze data to further profits. A leader today in information technology would be Comcast. Comcast’s mission statement is, “Comcast brings together the best in media and technology. We drive innovation to create the world’s best entertainment and online experiences.” So today, in a world that is technologically driven, Comcast has many competitors and needs to gain/keep a comparative advantage. Most recently, Comcast announced a 45 billion dollar merger with TWC, TimeWarner Cable. This merger would result in the biggest broadband cable provider in the U.S. Comcast will gain a huge amount of power and much power over the ISP space, some say this was a monopolistic power move. Overall, compared to its main compeitor Verizon, Comcast XFINITY brings TV and Internet together with the X1 Entertainment Operating System. Comcast XFINITY delivers in-home WiFi speeds that are 3x faster than FiOS, and XFINITY On Demand has the most TV shows and movies. Both companies are currently battling over master speeds, more options and available services, and most importantly home security systems in which both companies are trying to make their systems more convenient and portable via iPhones. Comcast is currently taking the lead with cross functionality and easy accessibility for their home security, using it with mobile devices and apps. Also, as mentioned before, XFINITY TV offers more of a variety of different plans compared to its competitors. These plans will help to better fit your specific TV requirements. XFINITY is committed to improving your entertainment choices, offering services that you like on go. However, with every advantage comes a disadvantage. Even though Comcast is the largest cable provider in the world by revenue, this does not mean that they are perfect. One flaw of theirs is Comcast's customer satisfaction. Its customer satisfaction is among the lowest of all cable companies. Comcast in the past was looked down upon for violating
