I have been studying mathematics and computer science in Northern Virginia
Community College for the last two years. In mathematics, I would like to study actuarial science since I appreciate how actuarial science combines math, business, and economics and uses hypothetical models to estimate future risks that big corporations might encounter.
Moreover, I have a good business and economics back ground; I took some business, economics as well as accounting class when I was in high school. Even though I never had any programming experience, I believe that my strength in mathematics will help me be a competitive programmer if I work hard and get a chance to join a challenging university like
Carnegie Mellon University. Therefore, my main plan is to first finish my

The reason is that I have been working very hard so that I could avoid taking any more loans, but scholarships. When I first came to the United States I had to take loans, but from now on, I will go to school only if I get scholarships. Moreover, I am planning to have a Ph.D. degree in computer science because having my Ph.D. degree will guarantee me that I could be a computer science professor. I love tutoring people and see people succeed because of my help. In fact, I have been working as a math tutor in Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria
Campus since last semester, and I will continue for the coming semester. I feel like teaching is the best profession I could ever be good at since I am a very patient person while helping people, and most importantly, that satisfies me the most. Finally, I would like to write my own programming book or at least create a website. My idea is that in the United States of America, every could study programming not only to make a living, but also for fun. My
When I first came to the United State, I did not speak any English, but I had the desire to continue my education and to learn English. Growing up as a child, I only had one dream to become a chemical engineer. However, there have been many different challenges have been part of my journey. I remember starting school when I first came to the United States, at a local community center. Young and dedicated, I decided for the first six months that I would not speak any of my native languages and only focus on English.
In the Fall of 2017, I will be attending the University of Idaho. When deciding on schools, I had several characteristics in mind: affordable, close to home, beautiful, and friendly. When visiting the college in October, I experienced each of the aspects in a huge way. The tuition is one of the lowest I have seen, it is less than a two hour drive from home, the scenery is breathtaking, and every person that I encountered was super friendly and gave my mom and me a warm welcome. At this point in my decision process, I believe that I will be attending the University of Idaho for a full three years without transferring to another school.
The very essence of a earning a computer science in the country that I have grown to admire, has led me down the unbeaten path of studying at IDC Herziliya. I grew up in an environment where religion is paramount, while secular study took an equally important role. However, the nature of my community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Is to go on to a yeshiva in Israel. I however, have decided that studying in Israel fulfills my religious prospect, while also earning a degree in a study I have grown to love since the beginning of my junior year.
The passion for Higher Education began during my years as an undergraduate student who worked part-time in the Office of Admissions. As I answered the phone for a many of students and parents, I realized that the information that they always needed, they never had. My degree from the 4-year institution that is now my employer is a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. While I may not be using all of the skills learned while obtaining my degree I am still able to create my own visions for media within my position. There is no certain degree program that prepares you for Higher Education, but I think that is what makes it special when you put together staff members on a team because everyone can have so many ideas and plans that can work with each other.
The reasons I am teaching myself how to become a Web Developer are because I find it very rewarding to see an Idea be completed through to the working product then even being able to tweak parts here and there, continuously improving the idea and come out with a working website, to know that I've created that pushes me into learning more and more to enhance my understanding of Web Development and how I can use it in the
During my time at college, I learned about different types of coding, along with which code is used in certain areas, and how software works based on this. I feel like I would excel in this course due to being able to work well under pressure and communicate effectively while working under certain time constraints. Outside of my Extended Diploma, I have spent countless hours troubleshooting and maintaining my own personal PC build along with other family members devices. This has become a passion over the past 3 years and I am currently in the process of designing and building a new PC with newer components and features to learn more about this
As a student with a strong passion in high-fidelity audio who is determined to become a sound equipment engineer and designer, I have realized the value of knowledge in electrical engineering and in various fields such as material science along with a rich experience in related research that will help me succeed. After having this realization, I began doing research on college and the University of Pennsylvania stood out to me with the interdisciplinary education it offers to the students and the fact that it encourages student activities. Having the goal to design and produce my own exceptional sound equipment, I learned from other prominent designers and engineers that the study in high fidelity audio is not limited to one subject; instead, it cover a variety of fields such as general acoustics, electrical engineering and potentially material science if I decide to step into the production of speakers or headphones. Upon learning this, I decided to take full advantage of my college
‘What is Life?’- may be the most perplexing and precious thing in this universe. To protect and preserve this key to every living thing, public health science evolves as a significant and prime area of research. Due to my parent’s occupation, I had been living in medical college and hospital area during my childhood. Seeing the sufferings of the diseased people and heavenly smile after being healed at hospital, I realized the eminence of health profession. I have always dreamt to be a doctor.
An academic interest of mine is chemistry. When I was in 10th grade, I took honors chemistry to fulfill my high school requirement. I had an inspiring chemistry teacher who has encouraged and fostered a love for the science. I wanted to continue to broaden my understanding of chemistry, so I signed up to take AP Chemistry for the following year. That class was hands down the most enlightening and interesting course I have ever taken.
Throughout my high school career at the International School of the Americas, I have become a progressive member of the global community by generating solutions to problems by using both creative and rational thought. I have learned to investigate relevant global issues by developing cogent positions which have enabled me to analyze and address the myriad of perspectives, counter arguments, and comprehensive solutions that I have been faced with thus far. This hands on approach to learning led me to discover my career interests and desired major, city and regional planning. City and Regional planning is a field that incorporates my academic interests and my eagerness to address complex issues on local and global scales. In order to achieve my goals in this field I am to surround myself with students and professors who show intellectual curiosity, wonder, and take the initiative to participate in the process of learning.
Being in the historic city of Edinburgh while maintaining high international prestige in the academic community, the University of Edinburgh has a unique combination of tradition and innovation – a combination that I am honored to have the opportunity to apply to be a part of. Throughout my life, I have always balanced dual interests in the old and the new, in the historic and the cutting edge. To explore these interests, I am majoring in physics while also taking classics courses and planning to pursue a minor in philosophy at Trinity College. Having the opportunity to attend the University of Edinburgh for a semester would grant me the privilege of further indulging these interests.
Ever since I can remember, it has been my dream to help others in some way. I think the best way that I can make a difference is by becoming a teacher. I want to inspire children to try their best and be the best version of themselves they can be. I want to make learning fun, or at least bearable. I am planning on working at a title I school so that I can have the biggest impact on the students who need it most of all.
Since I’ve taken challenging courses at high school, I am ready to take the next step in my academic career. Given my rigorous coursework, academic success, and volunteer experience, I am fully prepared to participate in Berkeley’s summer program. As I plan to major in Computer Science in
