Do you remember Luke Skywalker? He was the son of Anakin Skywalker (or Darth Vader) and was a vital part in defeating the Galactic Empire. Beowulf defeated Grendel as a heroic deed for those who feared the monster. He was like Luke Skywalker because he defeated evil for the better of the common people. Both of these heroes display similar characteristics because their quest was the same. Beowulf displays a strong sense of superhuman strength based on his actions. Beowulf’s objective for his quest is to defeat Grendel and his mother. He eventually defeats both of them but is killed while fighting the dragon. Although, while he was battling Grendel’s mother, he defeated her by using force instead of a weapon. “He raised his arms and seized her by the shoulder; anger doubled his strength, he threw her to the floor” (54). In the series, Star Wars, there is the deadliest weapon that all jedis are possessed with and that is the force. The force is how the jedis would move objects from one place to another without having to lift it or to break something down to get passed a barrier. Skywalker didn’t learn how to use the force until later in life. His father, Anakin, took 12-13 years to learn how to use the force; whereas Luke, it only took roughly a week. Luke uses the force to save the Rebels from the Death Star’s attack. When he is being attacked by Vader and the Empire, he trusted his feeling to use the force and fired the shot which killed the two TIE Fighters assisting Vader. This sent Vader floating into space where he couldn’t defend the Death Star anymore. He then blew up the Death Star with one shot and saved the Rebels. There is a big similarity between Beowulf and Luke Skywalker and it is that they both do what they had to do to save those who they cared
