Cimabue and Giotto were both very well known artists that both painted the Virgin and Child Enthroned. They both have the same meaning and the same subject. The Virgin and Child Enthroned have Madonna and Christ and it had the angels and the prophets. Comparing both of the artworks, they both have a different style. Cimabue and Giotto painting have a great symbolism behind their paintings and what it means for them. Comparing both of the paintings, Cimabue is the first Italian painter that created the Renaissance style of the Virgin and Child Enthroned in Florence, Italy in 1280 which was twelve feet tall and was created with a wood panel and gold. There is a lot of space and viewpoints that go around all areas of the painting. Another artist that recreated the painting was Cimabue. He recreated Virgin and Child Enthroned in 1305 through 1310, we see that there are many illusions and multiple viewpoints in the picture. Giotto painting of the Virgin and Child Enthroned was a very exaggerated when it comes to size. Mary is very massive and big, Mary's hips were very wide and Madonna looks very realistic compared to Cimabue painting. The prophets in the painting of Giotto all the prophets were positioned different and all the angels and prophets are looking at Mary and Jesus and the prophets are all behind the angels. The angles and the prophets were facing towards Mary and Jesus that represents humbleness and respect to Mary because both Mary and Jesus are holy. Mary holding Jesus was generally showing love and affection, these are some of the morals Byzantine Christians had. Mary was depicted as an infant sometimes, to show her tenderness. The Virgin Mary is the center point in many Byzantine works of art.
Enriquez also uses more gold than the original perhaps to appeal to the Spanish merchant he painted for. Furthermore, the painting creates a heavenly imagery and establishes the Virgin Mary as divine as she pictured surrounded by white clouds and being carried by an angel while standing on the moon. Madonna del Magnificat was created by Botticelli in the early 1480s. It is said to be one of the most famous paintings of the Madonna during his time because of the five contemporary replicas which were created. The painting was covered with gold paint and if you see it in person the figures appear to be life size. The virgin which is slightly almost at the center of the painting is crowned by two angels and is depicted as the queen of heaven. Two wingless angels are crowning her.

The Middle Ages had an emphasis on religious figures and symbolism. The two images contained Document A included: Madonna Enthroned Between two Angels by Duccio di Buonisegna from the late 13th century as well as Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, from the early 16th century; upon further observation the conclusion can be made that not only was the art from the Middle Ages focused mostly on religious subject, but it also had two-dimensional lifeless figures and drab colors, as expressed in the painting. This great contrast is clear because the Renaissance painting is the complete opposite, possessing realistic figures which were true to form and three dimensional, vibrant landscapes, with a focus on the individual. As Rabb put it, “the new artistic styles would echo broader movements and interests of the new age.”
Madonna and child are amongst the most popular yet controversial topics in the Christian art. Most of the pieces of art done on this topic usually have Mary and Jesus either surrounded by angels or saints who pay respect to them. It is an important figure in Catholicism as it reminds the believers about their faith. Both paintings' color tones were very earthy and natural. As i mentioned in the beginning that both of the paintings were took place near the ocean, it is because i noticed there were dophins, seashells on Raphael's Galatea; while Botticelli's The Birth of Venus had the Goddess of Venus standing at a sea shore on the ocean.
Although Mary’s hand and body itself take up an odd amount of room they help objects such as baby Jesus stand in the painting as well. This painting has a certain movement it creates the gesture of a baby pulling his mother closer to him has he lays his cheek on his mother. The shape used is that of a circular motion. Dieric Bouts create a sense of harmony and wholeness using the same color, skin tone between Mary and Jesus create harmony. You can tell the contrast between the two people Mary symbolizes royalty being the mother of Jesus which, is why she wears blue.

Perspective is considered one of the most important aspects of Renaissance art. Artists such as Masaccio, Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael made the use of this device in many of their work. Thanks to Filippo Brunelleschi, who ‘invented’ and developed this technique called one point linear perspective. The intention of perspective in Renaissance art is to depict reality, reality being the ‘truth’. By simulating the three dimensional space on a flat surface, we in fact incorporate this element of realism into it.
The Birth of Venus is an important part of Greek mythology and it showcases how according to mythology, Venus was born. Representational artwork aims to represent actual objects or subjects from reality. While no one has seen Venus or any of the other mythical figures in the painting, this painting does put into pictures the beliefs that we as humans hold, and thus, it represents an object in its own way. Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus is quite an amazing painting which brings together all its elements quite beautifully.
