When someone has a question it is normally his or her mom they go to for an answer. When Mom tells them no, they run to Dad because they know he will say yes. Children know that there are certain questions that they have to ask a certain parent in order to get the desired response. They also learn early on how to work the system that is their parents. The youngest child especially knows how to get whatever they want. Mom and Dad may have the same role as parents, but the way each of them go about fulfilling those roles is entirely different. Most of those differences can be seen in discipline, day-to-day life, and time spent alone with Mom compared to time spent alone with Dad. Mom is normally the first person seen in the morning because she wakes everyone up. She is in charge of feeding everyone, making sure everyone has what they need, and making sure everyone is on time. She drives the kids around, makes healthcare appointments, makes sure no one forgets anything, keeps the house clean, and makes dinner for the family almost every single day. The kids are able to see the tasks that Mom does for them. Dad on the other hand, is a different story. In a typical family Dad is the breadwinner. This means that Dad is typically at work all day and does not come home until around dinner time. Even though Dad is helping the family by making money for them to live off of, no one sees him do it. Children are more likely to run to Mom first with their problems, but they run to Dad first when they want something. Parents are viewed differently by their children because of the way they discipline, the things they do day-to-day, and the experiences made during one-on-one time. However, the entire family is able to get together and have fun because those differences cannot get in the way of a happy family.
