How often are women admirable? Ellen Ochoa, An hispanic engineer, astronaut, and now a director of the Johnson Space Center, is one of the most admirable persons. Ochoa, a dream chaser who encourages others to go after what they really want. Education lead Ochoa to where she is now; However, this career she chose brighten up women making Ochoa their hero.

During the turn of the century the Jim Crow era, between the years 1895- 1950 there were two prominent black leaders that arose in order to accomplish one goal equal rights for African Americans. Although these two leaders shared different ideas and strategies for dealing with the Jim Crow era. Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois dedicated their lives to gain equal rights for African Americans.

According to my research she is known to be a billionaire since she was 49, by being a great communicator and enterinatnor (britannica). She is best known for her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history. The Oprah Winfrey Show, On the Oprah Winfrey Show she invites guest to her show to talk about their inspiration stories about their life. She advise them about making good decisions and the right choice. Winfrey influences many women, this makes her the great women she is now. I believe that this has to do with her attitude that she has today. By the struggles she went through, she gained experience to develop a positive attitude. She was able to change her life around, this television show has helped her get her voice out to the world and help many women who are facing the same thing as she did. I believe that this is a great accomplishment that she achieved and was able to share her stories to her audience about her childhood when she was growing up. Beside the Oprah show and her life for books, she was also a great actress. She was in many great movies and television shows, such as the Color Purple and The Women of Brewster Place

W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington were very influential leaders for the equality of blacks, specifically ex-slaves while W.E.B. DuBois was a founder of the well known NAACP. Both of them agreed that the goal was to have black people be fully engaged in society. This meant they should be active in the economic as well as the political sections of society. Unfortunately, their differing backgrounds brought them to very different places on how they felt that ultimate goal would be achieved.

Beyoncé and Rihanna are two of the most successful R&B singers right now. They are very strong, black, powerful women. They influence, inspire and empower many people. Many young women look up to them and strive to look and be like the two successful stars. Many men drool over them and dream of having a woman that is as beautiful as the two. They both currently had tours, Rihanna 's Anti tour and Beyoncé’s formation tour, with thousands of fans chanting their songs. In this essay I will compare the two, and give you my opinion about them both.

Lena Horne was a star who broke racial barriers. In a suppressive 1900s America, an African American woman was determined to step into the limelight to defy the racial standards of her time. She faced an uphill battle trying to create a career from her childhood, with little support from her own family, let alone a white dominated industry. When she finally proved to be an astonishing performer and struck a deal with a major Hollywood studio, she was still held back by racial segregation laws still in effect in the south. Horne recognized her influence and used her talents to go from actress to activist. Through movie roles and songs the starlette used her voice to make movements for African American civil rights.

Oprah’s speech reflects an age and dialogue of constant controversy and arguable division surrounding allegations of sexual assault, mistreatment, and the seemingly unthinkable idea of an underlying patriarchy within the film industry. Oprah explores and conveys these ideas through the use of various persuasive linguistic and oratorical techniques. This is seen through her use of ethos and pathos when creating an emphatic delivery and appealing to the emotions of the audience when utilising anecdotes. This is also further seen through her repetition of female pronouns when persuading the audience

In Ross Haenfler’s book, Straight Edge: Clean-Living Youth, Hardcore Punk, and Social Change, he discusses and evaluates the many aspects that are present in straight edge (sXe) culture. Straight edge individuals define themselves as being members of the larger punk subculture. Furthermore, in addition to being “punk,” they refrain from alcohol use, drug use, and premarital sex. In chapter six of this book, Haenfler examines the obstacles that straight edge women face, specifically in the Denver punk scene. In general, punk culture is dominated by males, which makes it difficult for women to fully integrate. Haenfler elaborates on this issue and states, “Though sometimes less visible, women make their presence known in the sXe scene” (134).

Walker are courageous African-American women who have overcome racial stereotypes because of their determination to pursue what they love; Misty Copeland’s determination led her to pursue dance, and Patricia Bath and Madam C.J. Walker were strong, African American entrepreneurs.
