Music has been a part of dramatic presentations since prehistoric times and can be traced back to the theatre of ancient Greece. According to Musicals101.com, a musical is “a stage, television, or film production utilizing popular-style songs -dialogue optional- to either tell a story (book musicals) or showcase the talents of the writers and/or performers (revues).” Movie musicals are often described as pure entertainment and simple wish-fulfillment. The film musicals were a way for the fans and creators alike to ease into an unfamiliar medium with a familiar genre. The 1940’s were a golden age for movie musicals and they hit their peak popularity. Pitch Perfect and High School Musical are very similar films that were released in the early …show more content…
They meet at a holiday party when they were forced to sing karaoke together on New Year’s Eve. After winter break, Troy goes back to his high school, East High, just to find out that Gabriella is a new student there. They quickly become close friends and accidentally audition for the school musical. After getting a callback, the jealous and upset drama queen Sharpay Evans and her brother Ryan plot a way to kill their chances. Troy’s best friend, Chad, becomes scared that Troy will become distracted from their championship basketball game that happens to be on the same day as the musical. Along with Gabriella’s friend, Taylor, who wants her on the Decathlon team and is willing to do anything to get her on the team instead of participating in the musical that falls on the same day. Chad and Taylor work together to make Troy and Gabriella dislike each other so they won’t want to audition together. Meanwhile, Sharpay and Ryan manipulate the callbacks to make it at the same time as the championship game. The two must fight to make it to auditions while also meeting their existing commitments to the basketball team and the academic decathlon. On the other hand, Pitch Perfect is a story about a freshman at Barden University, Beca Mitchell, who has no intention of the …show more content…
In Pitch Perfect, the Bellas seems to feed off of that to make them a better singing group and High School Musical misses out on that completely. The films show different point of views from music groups. The goals that Troy and Gabriella have are not as high as the Bellas goals. The Bellas also have a greater responsibility than Troy and Gabriella’s musical. The excitement of the Bellas making it to finals is what sets High School Musical apart from Pitch Perfect. Pitch Perfect is the overall better movie because of its realistic events, intriguing plot, and suspenseful scenes. I hope that musical-based film can increasingly be produced as it inspires more people in music. The Barden Bellas shows encouragement to never give up until you reach the top. Also, musical film actually does help in developing the content of the story. This pulls more audience to continue watching. Pitch Perfect makes all of these statements true and is the best movie to show all the good criteria in a film
Fly Away Home and Baseball Saved Us have similarities as well as differences. One thing that is similar is that the characters both have to try and be patient while they are waiting to get out of bad situations. Andrew in Fly Away Home is waiting for him and his father to have enough money to move out of the airport, into an apartment and actually be able to sleep and go to school. While the boy in Baseball Saved Us is also waiting to get out of a place where he doesn’t want to be but has
In closing, you can see that music and the character 's expressions affected the movie by focusing on the mood of the story and demonstrating some of the important things that the people in the community don 't have. Music was used to show the mood of the story throughout the movie. It was also one of the things that the people in the community didn 't get to enjoy. While it had a major role in the movie, it was only a minor role in the book. Music wasn 't really mentioned in the novel.
The movie is both funny and action packed but the book is more detailed. So I enjoyed the book more. The film forgot a lot of characters and changed many scenes and it really frustrated me. Also in the book you can see more character development. Even though the film was not exactly like the book the director did a great job, and this still is one of my favorite movies.
While the similarities are smaller, like the considerate personalities shared between the main characters of both
One huge difference in the setting, in the book the story takes place on the shore of lake Michigan in a brand new apartment building in a small town. On the other hand the movie takes place old, run down apartment in the middle of a huge city. Another example is the characters, in the book there are 16 heirs with eight pairs. In the movie there are 10 heirs and 5 pairs. Also the movie leaves out some huge characters like Theo Theodorakis, Flora Baumbach, and
Another difference is that in the movie they go into town, but in the book it 's never mentioned. Something else that was different was that in the book the mood was happy most of the time, while in the movie the mood was sad. A difference between the book and the movie is that in the book momma was going to burn Byron, but in the movie she does not burn him. A big difference is that in the
It’s easy to pin point the difference but in reality they share common themes which includes life lessons. Despite the difference in the years and the actors both the classic and sequel has common themes that can be applied to situations now in day. When we compare and contrast
In the movie and book there were many similarities. One similarity was that there was the movie scene where they meet Cherry and
They also had their differences, but after reading and watching both, you can tell that they had to have used some ideas from the poem in the movie. In conclusion, they have greater similarities than there are
A major difference is that there are some characters that were in the book that aren't in the movie like Flora Baumbach, Theo Theodorakis, and Madame Hoo. Even though the movie wasn’t as good or as exciting as the book, they were both interesting and are fun to read and listen
The movie and novel share similar qualities. For example, both feature all of the same characters. Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop are brothers.
Another similarity is that Ponyboy 's parents were killed in an automobile accident. In both the movie and the book is the heroic attribute of both Johnny and Ponyboy saving those kids in the burning church. Another thing that is the same is that after the rumble Dally and Ponyboy go and see Johnny, and after he dies, Dally goes and robs a store and is then shot down by the police. Some discrepancies between the book and the movie are that in the movie it left out a copious amount of Ponyboy being sick at the end, after Dally was killed.
Although there are many differences between the two, there are also many similarities. Like how in both the movie and the novel she outsmarts the
Pitch perfect 2 is a sequel to the previous film. In this sequel, Beca secretly starts work at recording studio without anyone know include her friends in Barden Bellas, which is the name of a Capella group. The conflict begins when Beca does not give attention to her Capella group because of her work at a recording studio, Residual Heat. Her boss asking for the new ideas to all intern, but Dax suggests a dumb idea that make the boss feels frustrated .The
While there are some similarities between the book and the movie, the differences are much more apparent. Some of these differences that only the book has are Pony was given a chance to bring his grade up. In the book and only in the book does the English teacher gives Ponyboy Curtis a chance to bring up his grade due to hard times. Another thing that only happens in the book is that Sodapop has a girlfriend named Sandy and is mentioned a few times in the book.
