Many people believe that the House of Representatives and the Senate are more or less the same thing, just with different numbers of people because of the Great Compromise. That is incorrect. While the bicameral house was created because of the Great Compromise, that does not make the House and the Senate the same. Though they are very similar, the House and the Senate also differ from each other in function, organization, and stature.
To begin, the Senate and the House of Representatives, while having some similarities, also contain many differences. For one, the House of Representatives is more powerful than the Senate. Though the framers initially intended for the Senate to be more powerful (through stricter qualifications and longer terms), but because of multiple reasons, the House is the more powerful side today.
