1. The Articles of Confederation had many problems that arose, especially with the national government. States were only issued to have one vote no matter what their population was, support for legislation had to be kept private, and the states had their own power. The Articles of Confederation did not let the national government ask for money, making it harder to achieve all the responsibilities. Individual state governments did not have to agree with any troop requests and could refuse to raise an army. Protecting the nation became difficult having no one to fight or defend it. The federal system is a system where both the central and state governments have equal authority and distribute it to the people. Most of the power in the federal government is supported with barely any opposed. People elect two different governments and each one of those are responsible for different tasks. The federal system has a written agreement where you can not make any changes to it unless you have consent from the individual state governments. The benefit of the federal system is that they can not make any changes without the encouragement from the states. The federal system also gives countries the legislative, judicial and executive jurisdiction to both governments. An example of a country that has a federal system would be Canada and the United States under the constitution. The unitary system has their authority in charge with the central government. The national government is very depended on and is cautiously decreasing in power. An example of a country that uses the unitary system is the United Kingdom. The confederal system has their authority with the individual states. The central government must depend on the states government and not on itself. Many states disagreed and refused to give away their power, making them self involved with themselves without any national governing. A Civil War Amendment was the 13th amendment. This amendment put an end to slavery in the United States. This amendment was passed by the House of Representatives in January 1865, then later ratified as the 13th amendment in December 1865. This amendment states that “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction(160).”
This amendment was necessary because without it, we would still have slaves. Americans now have their own Civil Rights and are able to live freely without being worried about becoming slaves. People also do not have to take advantage of anyone and make them slaves. The 13th amendment was done for the people. It was necessary to have a free and fair environment for every American.
5. The Bill of Rights in the First Amendment states that any citizen should be free to practice which ever religion they would like. The government has the right to support any religious organization but can not show favoritism. The government must have a legitimate reason when getting involved with a religious establishment and the religion in no way can be supported to an advanced
