Connection between the American Revolution/Government

Ever wonder how the ideas of the ideas of the Enlightenment influenced the American Revolution and the formation of the American Government? Either way, i’m going to tell you about it. The Enlightenment was a time of transformation for Europe. It encouraged new ways of thinking among political thinkers. The Enlightenment sparked independence movements in Latin America. It also emphasized reason over religion in the search of knowledge. There were many great philosophers of the enlightenment and their ideas contributed to today's American government. The major Philosophers consisted of was John Locke who created our natural rights of, life, liberty, and property. He also believed in a constitutional monarchy. Another philosopher was Montesquieu, he created separation of powers and checks and balances which we use in our government today. Voltaire was another great philosopher he gave us freedom of speech and also advocated religious tolerance. Another great philosopher was Rousseau he created the social contract and believed that people were corrupted by society. One of the ways that the Enlightenment influenced the American revolution were the idea of freedom. The Colonist were under control of Britain but wanted freedom. When they asked Britain for their freedom and Britain didn't do anything about it they rebelled against the government. This also ties into another idea of the Enlightenment that the people are allowed to rebel against the government if they are protecting our natural rights of, life, liberty, and property, which was created by John Locke.
