The people that lived near Ipswich Road were close to all the commerce in Salem Town and their jobs were more fulfilling than farmers. They were usually merchants, blacksmiths, carpenters and were able to support their families and all the economic changes that Salem went through at this time. The people that lived farther apart from Salem Town tended to be closer to religion and held the beliefs that the prosperity of the Salem Town was against their Puritan religion. This actually lead many historians to believe that economical jealousy and envy could have been one of the reasons behind the Salem Witch Trials. Most of the accusers were from this part of town, indeed one of the most influential families during the accusations were the Putnams and they highly disagreed and protested about the economic changes in Salem and the different classes
Though alike in their English heritage, the colonies of New England and the Chesapeake diverged from one another because they were colonized in different ways and for different purposes, giving rise to differing economies, lifestyles, and politics. New England was immensely democratic, possessed a market economy, and was largely centered around family and religion. Contrastly, the Chesapeake made its revenue in tobacco, consisted of mostly single young men, and had aristocratic governance at odds with its poor, farming population. Colonies produced several exports unique to their region. New England, with its vast forests, codfish hordes, and abundant wildlife, chiefly exported fish, ships, timber, fur, and metals.
The southern states included Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. These colonies were part of the original 13 that settled in the Americas. The geography included coastal plains, hilly areas and lots of forests. In addition too, the colonies were bordering the Atlantic Ocean. This allowed for two things, a food source (fish) and it also allowed implement mercantilism to happen such as trading with Europe and gaining a profit or trading in the triangular trade.
The Nile river originates in from lakes in Ethiopia and Kenya and ends in the Mediterranean Sea after flowing through Egypt. I think the Nile River shaped the Egyptians because, well there are many reasons. First of all, The Nile river made their rich for farming. The Egyptians called the Nile River the black land meaning, these soils are rich with nutrients for farming.
Surrounding the manor house were the houses and buildings of peasants, as well as a wall used for protection. (Frey 1) The manor was self-sustaining, meaning that it grew or produced everything necessary for it’s survival. An outside product was rarely necessary. The manor works this way because of the peasants who worked on it, many with a specialized profession such as a blacksmith or carpenter, who produced for it.

This province produces all sorts of grain or corn, the inhabitants likewise breed all sorts of Cattle, in great quantities, which they supply the Merchants of New York and Philadelphia, to carry on their trade, to all the American Islands; but were they a distinct Government, (having very good barbours) merchants would be encouraged to settle amongst them, and they might become a considerable trading people; whereas, at present, they have few or no ships, but coasting vessels, and they are supplied from New York ,and Philadelphia with English Manufacturers having none of their own. New Jersey has large areas of farmland. The settlers of the New Jersey colony made a living by hunting, fishing and farming. Ashes from
The Middle colonies were proprietary colonies with the exception of New York, which was a provincial colony. Religion in the Middle colonies was very diverse and the colonies were known for religious tolerance. The geography of the region provided for excellent farming, growth of livestock, and the trade of mainly raw materials for manufactured goods. As a result the economy was not centered primarily on shipping or farming but rather a mix of the two. The middle colonies were much more diverse than the New England ones with only 40% being English.
The American society and the economy of the Middle colonies stood between New England and the south. They blend their own influence with elements of diversity of colonial life. They foreshadow Americans nation than the other regions. The Middle Colonies has an economic mix there primary crops were of those of New England. They developed surpluses of food stuffs for export to the plantation of the south and the West Indies, such as Wheat, barley, oat, and other cereals, flours, and
Heritage pig/pork breeds were naturally handy and thrifty animals raised for their bacon, meat, and lard. The pigs lived off the land, grains, grass, whey from the chum. In America, all heritage pork comes from pure and cross-bred livestock. The Berkshire is a first class black pig with lean meat.
The colonials of New Spain brought animals such as horses, cattle, goats, sheep, chicken and pigs. Here Pilcher describes the importance of corn and wheat. He uses very descriptive to show Mexico’s elites love towards dishes based on wheat. He also discusses Mexico’s oldest documents of cookbooks, however, the Europeans heavily influenced them. Typical Aztec crops included maize, beans, squashes, potatoes, tomatoes and avocadoes; they also supported themselves through fishing and hunting local animals such as rabbits, armadillos, snakes, coyotes and wild turkey. Their relatively sophisticated system of agriculture and a powerful military tradition would enable the Aztecs to build a successful state, and later an empire. The Aztec language, Nahuatl, was the dominant language in central Mexico by the mid-1350s. Numerous Nahuatl words borrowed by the Spanish were later absorbed into English as well, including chili, avocado, chocolate, coyote, peyote, guacamole, ocelot and mescal.
