Their lives unfortunately end in tragedy. But, who's responsible for their death? There are multiple characters who could carry the guilt. However, the ones that stand out the most would be the the Capulets and Friar Lawrence. The capulets are the one to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death Lord and Lady Capulet. Lord capulet is Juliet’s father. At the start, he seems like a good father, until when Paris asks to marry Juliet. Capulet puts him off, citing Juliet's young age and even suggesting that he'd like his daughter to marry. But Lord Capulet …show more content…
He says to her, “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! I tell thee what-get thee to church a’ Thursday Or never after look me in the face. Speak not, reply not, do not answer me! My fingers itch. Wife, we scarce thought us blest That god had lent us but this only child. But now I see this one is one too much, And that we have a curse in having her. Out on her, hilding!” Lord Capulet is quite unsupportive and aggressive towards her daughter. Although Juliet is his only daughter, he wants to neglect her if the marriage didn’t happen on thursday. Lady capulet also played a role in the death of Juliet. Just when Juliet needs her mom's support, Lady Capulet coldly ignore her daughter's pleas to help her avoid marrying Paris. After Lord Capulet storms out, Juliet turns to her mother to soften her father's punishment. Juliet begs her even to delay the marriage. Lady Capulet responds, "Talk not to me, for I'll not say a word / Do as thou wilt, for I have done with thee." Lady Capulet ignores Juliet and says that she has had enough. When Juliet threatens to kill herself rather than marry paris, Friar proposes a plan. “ take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilling liquor drink thou off… shall Romeo by my letters know our drift. And hither shall he come.” Friar tells Juliet to drink a herbal essence that will cause her to seem dead. THinking that she is really dead, her sorrowing family will take her to the Capulet tomb, where Friar and Romeo will wait secretly for her to regain consciousness. Then the star crossed lover flee to Mantua. It was quite naive for Juliet to accept the plan, as it goes horribly wrong when Romeo hears the news that Juliet is dead. Not knowing Friar’s plan, Romeo quickly rushes back, to find Juliet “dead”. Romeo kills himself by drinking the poison, “ Here’s to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss i die.” Romeo’s death could’ve been prevented if Friar Lawrence stayed with Juliet in the tomb. The death of Juliet could’ve also been prevented if Friar didn’t leave the tomb in such a hurry. He could’ve snatched the knife a poison in an attempt to save Juliet. The optimistic Friar Lawrence had a big impact in the death of Romeo and
Juliet came up with a plan to fake her death to complete her plan she needed a potion. She went to Friar Lawrence to get the potion; Friar Lawrence shouldn’t of given Juliet the potion understanding the future consequences of helping Juliet fake her death. As a result of Juliet faking her death there were repercussions romeo didn’t know that Juliet’s death was a hoax and the trauma of her death resulted in Romeo going to the apothecary to get poison.
Many wonder who should truly be blamed for Romeo and Juliet's death. Could it have been the fact that both of their parents refused to let them see each other which cause this or could it have been Friar Lawrence's or the Nurse's fault for persuading and assisting what they knew would end with trouble. Many describe their deaths as an inevitable event that just couldn't be avoided but couldn't it have? Looking back and reading, it is believed that the Friar had the most influence on both Romeo and Juliet causing their deaths. It was even him who suggested that Juliet wait for Romeo in the tomb, which leads to Romeo killing himself since he supposedly believes that Juliet is dead.
My fingers itch. Wife, we scarce thought us blest/That God had lent us but this only child;/ but now i see this one is one to much,/ And that we have a curse in having her./ Out on her, hilding!”(3.5.165) Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris, but she didn’t want to. Him keeping her from living her life and makes her want to sneak around.

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is a classic love story that ends in a tragedy. Unable to overcome the hatred that plagues both of their families, Romeo and Juliet ultimately commit suicide. This tragedy is often viewed as a product of Verona's society. While the family feud between the Montague and the Capulets did play a major role in the early deaths of the protagonist, individual characters also contributed to their demise. Perhaps the character who played this biggest part in the tragedy was Lord Capulet, Juliet's father.
Who is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s Death? In the devastating romance, Romeo and Juliet shows an illustration of how young love is able to cause destruction, not only in their lives but also the people’s lives around them. It also shows how other actor’s thoughts affected the people close to them, but the main question is, who is responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? The death of Romeo and Juliet was not their fault but Friar Lawrence's. Friar is to blame, not only for one action that contributed to their death, but for three actions.
That makes Juliet concerned because she likes Romeo. First, he tells Juliet to marry Paris which she doesn’t want to happen. This is found in Act 3 scene 5. Second, Lord Capulet rages at Juliet when he notices that she doesn’t want to marry Paris. He then tells Juliet that he will never see her again.
In act 3 scene 5 Lord Capulet tells Juliet that she has to marry Paris or else she will be disowned and he is not very nice about it either; while he is telling Juliet what will happen if she doesn’t Marry Paris he says, “hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, I'll ne'er acknowledge thee”. This hurts Juliet very much. Lord Capulet was forcing Juliet to marry Paris so soon she didn’t even have time to think of anything else she could do. This is putting Juliet in a stressful situation because she is already married to Romeo, but now her father will disown her if she doesn't marry Paris.
Lord Capulet was one of the individuals that contributed to the termination of Romeo and Juliet’s lives. Being irate, Lord Capulet forces Juliet into a dilemma by saying, “But fettle [her] fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next/ to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or [he] will drag thee on a hurdle thither.” (III.v.154-156). Juliet characterizes as a loyal and obedient daughter, she always wants to please her parents whenever she can. This puts tons of pressure on Juliet’s decision.
He had given Juliet, who was begging for help, a small vial containing the liquid that would fake Juliet’s death. When the time had come, he depended too much on Friar John, and Romeo received the wrong news. Romeo had thought that Juliet was dead and went back to Verona with a bottle of poison to kill himself. Quickly, Friar Lawrence ran to stop him, only to find Romeo dead and Juliet waking up.
This plan is for Juliet to drink a potion which simulates death so that she will be buried in the family tomb where Romeo can come and visit her. This plan works, Romeo is in the tomb waiting for Juliet to wake up, but someone is coming and Juliet hasn’t woke up yet, so Romeo drinks poison and dies.
In the book Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare Juliet’s death is caused by her own father Lord Capulet he has been blamed for all the massacre between Romeo and Juliet. In Verona both characters Romeo and Juliet first meet at a party that Lord Capulet throws which if you don't know is Juliet’s father. After both of them meet they are in love but since Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague they are forbidden to see each other since their families hate each other. In the book Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare the person blamed for Juliet’s death is Lord Capulet because he let Juliet meet Romeo at his party that he throw. He also started the fight between him and Montague and he also forced his daughter to marry Paris.
I blame the Lords and Ladies Montague and Capulet for the events that occur in “Romeo and Juliet” because they hold grudges against each other and they won’t forgive each other, even after members of their families die. After Tybalt dies, Lady Capulet tells the Prince, “Tybalt, my cousin! O my brothers child! O Prince! O cousin!
Romeo and Juliet died at the end of Act 5 of the play. The death of the two lovers had several reasons and people that lead up to this moment. The people that were the most responsible for the the deaths are three members of Capulet family. With the father, mother, and nurse to Juliet all having an influence by being unsupportive, uncaring, and uptight, they are to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths.
